Hi All,
I got a grip on my finances with a simple speadsheet on Excel which I want to share with you.
I used a seperate page for each month so it wasn`t all together and confusing. in one column I put my salary (after tax) and another listed all my direct debits. I then took one from the other and divided what was left by 4.333 to tell me what I could spend in the week (warning you must have all the bills on dd). It takes a bit to get into the habit but it was easy setting a time whenever the washing is on for me which kinda acted like a trigger/memo.
I found that this was easy to update and took about 5 minutes a week. I know its Janet and John stuff but I know how difficult it is and this made things a lot easier for me. I tried a to do list but I think thats best in a litle diary that you can carry around with you.

Painfully shocking how little is left after the all huge bills/mortgage are paid!!

Guys
I spotted the ad above this link and had a look at the financial planner - you get 7 days to trial it free so that's what I'm doing at the min. So far looks good - there is some free coaching on budgeting which is quite funny - it's entertaning me anyway. Plus there seems to be some graphics work in the software that will appeal if you are visually stimulated like me.
I'll post again after I've messed with it for a week and give you a review. It is american so will be in dollars and I don't know if the bank downloading bit will work so we will see.
