S Wales ADHD support group. « Thread Started on Sept 27, 2008, 11:40am »
As a few of you might know, i've been beavering away down here in Swansea to try and start a support group up with monthly meetings. i've had quite a bit of help and advice from people so far, some off this board, which i've acted upon and it's all in hand.. ( not sure which hand - i usually get left and right mixed up )
I've had offers of meeting rooms at very resonable prices and informed a number of organisations of my intent who are happy to take leaflets and posters off me and promote the group when everything is finalised.
I've also been in touch with Prof. J Thome who runs private and NHS adult adhd clinics here and i've been very touched by his enthusiastic and supportive response.
BUT WHAT I NEED NOW IS PEOPLE.. i love the idea of the saying " If you build it they will come",... But will they?.
Is there anyone out there in ADHD cyberland, willing to volunteer to help with the workload? This group needs to be promoted so that people know about it. Not just in Swansea, but further afield South and West. I was thinking that perhaps with four or five people on the case, four or five lots of brilliant minds full of ideas all working together ( if thats possible for adhd! ) things would get moving a lot quicker. Would anyone be willing to meet up with me in person to dicsuss things.. form a comittee or whatever it is you need do to get things done.
I would also love to hear your responses to this idea as there may not even be a need for a group this area? In which case i'll just go back to watching day time telly alot!!!!!

Hi Mellawales,
Information about your group can be added to our website, as well as the Bristol group's page.
Have you checked out using Google sites to build a web site. It's free, and looks simple to set up. I'm asking because then we can link sites, and it will help to advertise your site, and people can send you queries through the website.

Hi
Sorry I'm not in your neck of the woods but think it's an excellent idea. If you did a "flyer" would Prof Thome put it in his consulting room so you could enlist the help of some others or if he gives out any leaflets about adhd to his patients could he add your contact no?
