Hello everyone,
I am currently on Strattera 100mg I started on it about a year ago? give or take a few months. Anyways, I started on 25mg and worked up to 100mg slowly. I have noticed quite a big difference in concentration when doing uni work but my levels of pracrastination have not improved at all! So much so, I am really worried about my final year at uni. Obviously it's going to be a big year and I want to do the best I possibly can but I can't help feeling I am not getting the full benefits of using medication.
Are my expectations too high? some people say the meds are life changing but I would never describe mine as that way.
Thanks Duckster.

Im kind of in the same spot as you, strattera seems to help with motivation. But I'm just insanely tired all the time, when is it time to throw in the towel?

Usually methylphenidate is first line treatment in adults? So might be worth asking to try that instead if not seeing much benefit on strattera. I was given the choice when first starting meds and went for the MPH and its worked well for me. My cousin takes strattera and her side effects are so bad Do you access the disability students allowance? You can use that to access mentoring and study skills with a specialist tutor... Im doing a masters at the moment and the sessions help a ridiculous amount. They help to manage workload, work life balance, planning, organising, time management etc basically great to check in with once a week to keep on track. Third year uni is hard for everyone, never mind if you have additional needs - at times it felt impossible for me but keep going with it you've come this far. Defo speak with your psych though because if treatment isn't working there are a few other options!

I got strattera because I also have tourettes and this one is supposed to be the best (only) choice.
But yeah university support is available, I'm currently waiting to get a mentor.. to bad it's a waiting list. But other things are great like doing my exams in smaller rooms and extended time.

Ah right I see... if procrastination is the main issue id say minimise the potential for distractions as much as possible (i know easier said than done) ... for example procrastination for me - is inevitable.... at home I pick up my guitar, watch TV, tidy the room, make a sarny, play the guitar, make a cuppa, google anatomy of ladybirds, have another cuppa, learn a new song on the guitar, perfect it for 3 hours, faff about on youtube for a bit, get the gerbils out for a run, feed the guinea pig etc etc if I'm lucky I do my uni work.. If I make myself get up and in uni to work (not the library - that scares me) but the little building our lectures are held.. i do much better because theres less distractions, the only thing I have to contend with is my phone (which I put on silent and in my bag if I'm good). If its busier than usual I put my headphones on. If its not busy i dont listen to music because even that distracts me .. I dont even go for a cuppa because Im not paying 1.30 for a tea bag

My first thought is that when they're working, you'll not be asking that question, instead, your post will read "Holy cow I'm getting so much done I can't believe it" ... you might not even come to the forum, you'll be far too busy getting all those things checked off your list that have been there for years This is how I felt for the brief time my medication worked, before the side effects took me off them.
