Hi everyone This is my first time taking meds as I've just been diagnosed with ADHD Day 1 Took 30mg tablet at 8:00 am after toast and cup of tea decided not to ride my motorcycle to work, so got the bus Half hour on the bus I felt nothing then as I got to my stop I started to feel a little spacey, managed to open office door and get to my desk, lol About 10am still feeling spacey but seem to focus a little better on my job 12pm there was a lot of noise a conversations going on around me but I seemed to block them out and carry on working and concentrating on my tasks 1:30pm got a bit of stomach ache and mild headache, And spacey again, but carried doing my work tasks 2pm lunch usually I would listen to music while watching a YouTube video and mess with my fidget toy, today I read 25 pages of book without listening to music, probably not taken much of it in but it's a start lol 4pm-6pm ish got headache and stomach ache It's now 10pm and i think it's wearing off as I'm very tired and hard to concentrate. More tomorrow

Day 2
Took tablet at 8:00am, decided not to ride my bike until I feel safe, was abit spacey at work for and hour, then got a nasty headache, but faded after 20 minute, not getting distracted buy office chatter, focus ok until about 11am but then I seem to slow down felt like a zombie, but carried on work, had lunch and got a few stomachs pains and more headache but, I notice I was not reacting to conversations I heared and butting in, I don't feel like myself I'm not used to being calm and not rushing around, but I like it as I can hold a conversation and I think before I answer questions instead of blurring out whats in my head lol, I did read something about not feeling like your self once on meds but I'm slowing feeling like I'm now in control.
Update tomorrow

Day 3
8:00 am I took my tablet, 8:30 spacey same as Thursday Focus was not that great today due to headache and stomach ache, but I battled through, the rest of the day was the same as Thursday, but I think my meds wore off about 8pm, are the meds affected by when you eat? Hoping for a better result tomorrow with no side effects.

I had some stomach problems when I first started, but they're much less bad/frequent now.
My problem is that I have no appetite and often go all day without eating, which can't help the med's effect.
When I do eat, I get a bit spacey afterwards, although I'm hardly spacey at all now.
Apparently you shouldn't take them at the same time as fatty food or vitamin C as they convert from
lisdex to dex in the digestive process.
I'm off to the Dr today and hope to be put up to 70mg.

Hope you get your dose sorted I've seemed to have lost my appetite too, I usually munching on biscuits at work and have dinner when should but I've not for the last few days, I think I'm focusing a bit better, and have started to remember things more, got distracted a lot yesterday towards end of the day I think my dose might need raising but Im not back with DR until 3 months might go to their drop in centre, I take my meds just after breakfast 8:00 am I'm not sure if to try taking them about 9am so they last longer. I'm still off my bike as I'm getting dizzy in morning so leaving it until the side effects fade

Hi That's not a good result, I hope you get sorted out with a new medication, I'm going to my ADHD drop in centre Monday to discuss my dosage, but Saturday I finally managed to read a book from cover to cover with out getting distracted by something else which I have not done ever alway read a bit get bored, so it's possible the Elvanse is having some effect, on some symptoms just not in others, but I was told my first dose might not be strong enough so I'll wait and see what the Doctor says. I know it's a hard road to travel with meds until your stable but I'm going to endeavour to make there.

Update from my clinic visit yesterday
My specialist has advised that I'm getting good results From my meds for parts of symptoms but others and not being affected he want to keep me on 30mg, until the end of the month, as it takes time for me to get used to the meds, he is glad tha the side effects have now faded, as that means the meds are working.
He asked me to do a log of when the meds ware off And if the ware off mid day he will give me a top up

Hi all not had much to report over the last few days
But people have said I'm not a chatting box anymore and I don't interupt them could be a good sign meds are work, bug I don't feel any different, still getting the old headache after taking my meds but settles after a while.
I'm on 30mg Elvanse my psychiatrist advised the he is not upping my dose until the end of this month and might not then.
Has anyone been on Elvanse 30mg for a while and does it work well I've been on it now for 9 days, for few days I was focusing fine and not distracted but had a crap couple of days at least I'm not crashing when meds ware off

I didn't get much on 30mg, but was advised to stick with it for a month to
get my body used to it . .it takes time for your body and brain to adjust,
and to see if initial side-effects settle down. When I increased to 50mg, I
noticed a difference and now that I've had to stop I'm realising that it probably
was having more of an effect than than I thought, particularly in my ability to
speak . . I'm back to forgetting/using wrong words more frequently and not being
able to express myself in a linear/coherent way. So it might not be that it's being
less effective, just that you're getting used to your medicated self and not recognising
the improvements which were dramatically evident when you first started.

Day 10 Hi vagueandrandom Thankyou for the information on how you felt on Elvanse, Ill give it a month to let my body and brain get adjusted to the meds, I went back to work today after a week on holiday and I noticed that I just got on with what I was doing, when I could hear conversations which I would usually get involved in, I had the thought should I join in then it just went away and continued my task so, it was like my thoughts were says go on chat away but my brain said No youve got stuff to do lol, so all seemed good today, I think people have noticed how quiet I am It's like fog has been lifted and I'm in control for the first time in my life, I've nearly read two books this week, and I'm not finishing my girlfriends sentences or talking over her which is a bonus, I hope you get you BP down so you can return to your meds

I've been on this for about a month and half, I still get distracted, but a lot less than before, and I don't get the afternoon drop off, it is much slower, in fact barely noticeable. I still talk a bit too much, but I feel like there is more point to it and less waffle!

I can see what you mean, The psychiatrist has increased my dosage to 50mg now, bit nervous about getting more side effects , can't be doing with being dizzy again a headache's, but I'm going to see how I go with them hopefully they won't ware off as quickly, and last until I got bed, I'm pretty crap at keeping my diary up to date but I'll post something tomorrow after I've taken my increased dose

Hi all I've not been on for a while But I had some great improvements since my dose was increased to 50mg, Focus is pretty good, not distracted at work and home, lists are being done and completed, and I'm now trying to achieve my goals, I've set myself, only one thing that has not change much is not think before I speak, so I start CBT therapy in January so that might sort out that part of my ADHD, also found out that my younger brother has ADHD, but for 3 years they thought he was depressed, and put him on antidepressants, but now he's is feeling much better since moving to a better medication So merry Christmas to everyone on here and have a great new year

Happy new year everybody Just a quick up date, Its nearly 3 months that I've been on Elvanse I started on 30mg but seem to fade off early, but now on 50mg and they are working great on my focus and im less distracted, I Start CBT on Tuesday to help change my thought process I'm hoping that this will help, as I'm still struggling with not thinking before I speak and always seem to not answering correctly and feel like I panic a lot and alway think worse case, so fingers crossed this will help, combined with my meds

Hi. mikeymc I'm glad the Elvanse is still having a positive effect. I can't remember if you're NHS or private? Is the CBT adapted for ADHD? I don't get on with regular CBT, but am am interested in trying ADHD adapted therapy if I ever get referred to NHS services as I'm resigned to the fact that meds probably aren't going to be the answer for me. Let us know how you get on

Hi everyone.
Really interested to read your experiences.
I will start my first bottle on Sunday and with a little trepidation but at least you've given me a heads up for which I'm extremely grateful.
Thanks again. Andrew
