Anyone had these behavioural traits as part of their diagnosis? It looks like my diagnosis is heading in that direction...
Any words of advice / guidance / reassurance gratefully received x

Hi nickyw - if you hit the link on my name I have posted a few things on PDA. There are also some good Youtube videos about the condition posted recently by a chap called Henry. Try searching Youtube for PDA autism Harry.

Hi nickywMaybe like me, you'll have been looking at the adhd signs and it's a bit like a jigsaw with a few pieces that just don't fit together right. Turned out there was a piece missing, add the asd and the pieces all clicked, suddenly it all fitted together and all made sense. Remember you are still the same guy that walked into that assessment room, except now you have that missing piece, now you know how it all fits together

Actually getting a diagnosis has already been helpful. I like the visualisation of the jigsaw - and the pieces are indeed being linked together. Slighly overwhelming too, but knowing is better than not knowing.

Overwhelming, yes! It was my elephant in the room - the one that everyone else could see and one I was blissfully unaware of! but knowing is better than not knowing. Yep! Can't say I've learned to embrace the elephant yet, just knowing he's there still weirds me out a bit. I really should name him, that might help Finbar? Tigger? Twinkle-Toes? Bob! That will do!, Meet Bob, my not-so-secret autistic elephant!

It was my elephant in the room - the one that everyone else could see and one I was blissfully unaware of! I have thought about it in terms of joining the dots - as I look back over my life, there have been quite a few things / instances / occurrences which don't add up. I have been quite good at creating coping strategies (and doing this unknowingly). but when you join the lines between the dots, you suddenly see a picture.

The GP recently suggested to me that I might have PDA. I'm not yet diagnosed with ADHD but it's when she was refering me to the specialist that she wondered about PDA because I have so much trouble doing tasks that are expected of me. I looked it up and this website is really helpful and this lady's blog was too: memyselfandpda.com/Hope this helps!

Coming at this from the opposite end (and trying to understand my son). He has PDA diagnosis but Dr now thinks ADHD as well. Must admit I know a lot about PDA and a little about ADHD/ADD. He does have a hyperactive element about him which doesn't seem to be ASD or PDA. I'll keep reading on here to see if anything can help him.
