I was wondering if there is anything such as a student loan for medical needs?I'm studying abroad for a year to do a masters.
I'm thrilled I got accepted because I have tried twice before.
I got diagnosed as having inattentive strand ADD in the summer and started treatment with Elvanse just before I left the UK.
It proved to be a real game changer and I am getting so much from this course.
HOWEVER now I have problems continuing this treatment:
1. It's hard to get signed up to the health system in Spain - you need to get various appointments around to to get registered as a resident and even then no one can verify that an ADHD specialist can see me.
2. Elvanse is really expensive (116 euros for 28 capsules)
3. private doctors will cost 200 euro for the first consultation and 100 euro for each subsequent one.
A conservative estimate for cost of treatment during my time here is £1300.
I cannot ask my family for this money because they dont know about ADHD and culturally dont believe it's a thing.
I can't get a personal loan because I can't work until July.
Does anyone have any advice on what I can do.? I know this is a finance problem but it will be really awful if I mess this course up because if this condition.. i've made such amazing progress with the help of the medication- I could set myself up for life if i do well on this course.
Any help much appreciated
