Hello.
Sorry if any of the below is trying to teach you to suck eggs ! :-)
I’d feel happier engaging if I knew more about you and your project.
What is your hypothesis?
Are you particularly interested in Ritalin or methylphenidate?
Maybe the best way of getting the data you need would be to read through this site? A large proportion of the posts here are about medication and how people are getting on with it. Yes A lot of people post while they are still being titrated, or are stabilising, because they are concerned. So of course you might only find concerns... Similarly people seem to visit the site when they are looking for diagnosis or are relatively recently diagnosed. Again a skewed data set...
Another challenge is that people’s responses change, day to day, as well as gradually over time. Some of those long-term responses may be about tolerance. Some due to the concomitant cognitive changes that the medication can encourage, or the simple fact that when the worst symptoms are being addressed other previously milder symptoms are thrown into relief. Or other issues resulting from dealing with a new diagnosis...
So I’d say there’s a whole slew of variables associated with how recently diagnosed someone is.
Many here are on other drugs for anxiety, depression etc...
I’m sure you are aware that there might be difficulty in comparing people’s subjective reports too? Apples and oranges...
For my part - I’ve been on MPH xl 36mg for about a year.
I’d like to change my dosing.
I’d like to try other meds.
I’m worse than ever I was before I started taking meds at all if don’t take them, or before I take them and after they wear off...
The mph wears off too fast.
I’m becoming more tolerant...
I’m less emotionally unstable on meds. Although I think I may be more irritable /angry at times.
I sleep better.
Mph appears to help with motivation and persistence.
Especially good for helping me to do boring jobs.
I don’t lose things all the time.
At other times I still feel like a headless chicken - but the chicken is now on roller skates.
Sometimes MPH feels life-changing - on a good day I don’t notice I’ve taken it except that I’ve achieved more. Other times I don’t take it because I don’t want to be ‘shoved’ through life.
Mostly I don’t have side effects apart from being more of an arsehole than ever I was before, unmedicated.
Tense jaw/ neck sometimes.
Earworms seem worse.
The crash at about 6pm can be awful - exhausted and irritable.
