Happy to add a recommendation for this clinic here. I was recently disgnosed with ADHD there at the age of 53. It is a private clinic but the cost of assessment including a Qb test was under £500 and they also deducted 10% as I am a nurse. Lovely consultant who works for the NHS by day. He can also arrange shared care with your local GP so that after the initial private prescription (which was eye wateringly expensive) all future prescriptions can be issued by the GP. The only thing to note is that I gather they can only take referrals from local area GPs in Essex. They do have a clinic at Harley Street as well. Feeling relieved.....I am not mad...I have ADHD. The Qb test was very interesting....My inattention score was appalling.

Using services from here, which has been pretty good!
My psych talks in very clear terms and always gave me the impression of being honest. He actually disclosed some scepticism to whether I have ADHD at first, because I scored on the threshold on the QbTest and I guess my presentations were atypical (although he said with my history he was more confident)—I really appreciated his candour.
But yea, I guess this goes for a lot of psychs (I've never been to one before)—just don't expect a therapist haha. ADHD has been a real ordeal and I guess I wanted someone to just talk about it, but psychs just ain't about that. Thank god for these emerging online ADHD communities!
For my blood it's been expensive, but it's not like his prices are outside the going rates. And fair enough, the going rate is going for a reason (all the hidden costs involved, psych's time and experience, etc.). For that reason I'd definitely recommend him!
(I think he does NHS referrals as well? I presume you've got the same dude. Unfortunately I'm out of town but will be getting a general NHS psych appointment... maybe I'll be referred and NHS will foot the bill? One can dream!)
