Hiya,
I'm on the ADHD assessment waiting list in London (6 months into a two year wait) but I am moving to Somerset (Taunton) next month.
From what I can tell, the NHS trust (Somerset partnership) doesn't have an ADHD service.
Has anyone in Somerset managed to get diagnosed? And what are my options if there is no service, can I request to be referred elsewhere? Unfortunately private isn't an option.
Thanks!

If there is no service where you move to, you can ask to be referred elsewhere.
The CCG will have to approve this and they can make it very difficult.
Some of the new private ADHD clinics will contact CCGs and offer to provide services directly to them.
I believe that Cumbria has commissioned private services for ADHD.

Your GP can refer you to any suitable ADHD service for diagnosis and treatment, anywhere in England. The CCG has no role in approving this, as the NICE guideline CG72 means that the NHS has provide the service recommended by NICE. Of course excuses may be given to you, but this is either because the people concerned do not know what should happen, or are not telling you the truth.
If you want much more information about this, I can send you a guide to getting an NHS diagnosis. It explains what the NHS says should happen, and what to do if you are told something different. Send me an email to RTTcampaign@protonmail.com and I will see that you receive the guide.
