So I recently heard about Body-Doubling as a coping strategy for ADHD, as in having someone else in view working on their own thing quietly at the same time as you. As someone who on reflection used to work really well in libraries where there were also other people, it seems very promising and I'd love to try it!
The problem is, I don't have anybody in my life right now that I can comfortably do that (online or in person) with and despite the restrictions being eased here I don't feel quite comfortable being in libraries yet! I remember hearing that one of the American ADHD podcasts runs a kind of accountability and buddy up group for people with ADHD but the time difference is too much. Is there anything like that here in the UK? A place or way to buddy up to body-double with other ADHD people?

Interesting I haven't heard of that tenbirdsinacoat I can kinda understand it apparently when I was at school my mum said that if she sat in the dining room doing her work I would settle and do my homework next 2 her Thought it was just a distraction thing coz when she was working it was quiet So in the end I got put in the attic (with fiberglass insulation and freezing conditions) Figured no distractions up there it did help but I did waste alot of time making paper animals Sorry I can't give u any information about it My way of dealing with paperwork now is avoidance unfortunately that doesn't always work out well 4 me so I wouldn't recommend that method

From personal experience, I can see how that would work.
I used to detest being in the office, but I now recognise I would work much better knowing my boss was there giving me little nudges to check if something was on course for completion, but it had to be in a relatively quiet room as if there was too much noise in the room I would struggle to concentrate.

My son finds this really helpful. His university study skills coach has set up weekly body doubling via Skype with a lecturer from a different department who also works best with "company" (not sure if her is adhd though).
It doesn't suit my youngest or me, our ADHD expression seems a bit different so we use other strategies.
There is body doubling website/app where you can donate and receive a certain amount of hours on the free plan. I'll try and find the link and come back and post it.

I never knew this but I completly get it. It explains why I can’t study at home - all through uni I lived in the library. If your still interested in a buddy is there a way we could chat ?
