Hello, thanx for looking, has anyone had heart palpatations and shortness of breath when taking adhd meds? im currently on concerta xl 36mg a day, ive been on this dose for a week now, but only been getting heart palps today. im going to get checked at the drs to make sure my blood pressure ect is ok and my adhd dr said i can carry on taking my meds if i get the all clear, so i just wanted to know if anyone did have heart palpatations, did they get better whilst still taking the meds or did you have to stop taking them? thanks again Laura

Hi Laura concerta didnt suit me for this reason, I was terrible on them I was jittery and had heart palpatios as well, so had to stop them and take atamoxtine instead. But everyones body and the way they react to things is different. Has anything in your life changed recently? are you stressed over somthing? this may be the reason for the heart palpations and nothong to do with drugs. Its just thought. Take care. Meggie

Hi Laura, I had heart palpitations with Ritalin after a few days of being on in but they wore off after a few days - never tried concerta though, Ritalin is the full extent of my experiments with stimulants! That's good your ECG and BP was ok - they are very good indicators of whether somethings wrong or not so it probably is the concerta and not your ticker

thanx everyone, its reassuring that others have them too ive been fine since, spoke to my consultant today and she said its prob anxiety, as anxiety gave me heart palpatations before, she also said that hopefully as the adhd meds begin to control my symptoms i should become less anxious, itl just take time. im a bit skeptical as ive been anxious for 10 years now in social situations but i suppose she knows what shes talking about

Hey there, not good to hear you get heart palps. I did for two weeks on Equasym (Methylphenidate), and now I get it for a few days everytime my meds go up. My body did however adjust, the most important thing I found is not to worry about it otherwise I'd focus and it would drive me insane. Impossible advice right? Music helps but I can't use headphones or I hear the pulse of my heart and the music.
