Information about dosage, side effects, warnings, and pharmacological information (I don't think this is available in the UK): www.rxlist.com/vyvanse-drug.htm

it's not available in the UK at the moment... But it's made by Shire (who also make Adderall) and they are applying for a european license for it, so it should be available in a year or two. ;D
also if my memory's right, there's a trial going on into vyvanse in the UK, somewhere in Bristol i think...

I went to my apt check up at Bristol ADHD Clinic yesterday and was offered 3 options:
1. Up dose of my Dexedrine from 15mg per day to 20 or 25mg per day 2. Keep meds as they are and takea small drug holiday (am on leave soon) 3. Try Vyvanse for a while as may help peaks/troughs of Dex and reduce side effects i get
Can anyone tell me their experiences of Vyvanse or opinions on it from what they know/read.
What can i expect to feel/experience when compared to my dexedrine if i use Vyvanse>? IS it as good/better - is it better?
I have read all literature online and know what it is and how it works but want to know more...
thanks
PS - any ideas on option i should go for? I am on low dose of Dex apparently and tolerence has just risen up so thinking of upping dose. I get jaw clench issues sometimes and irritable at days end but otherwise i am ok (oh and get more fiery temper quicker at times!)
Thanks

I haven't tried it, but I thought that the real advantage of vyvanse was that it couldn't be abused because it has to be metabolises in the gut? Isn't Adderall really the next-generation of dex?

just read the reviews, bit worrying though that it seemed to enhance paranoia and anxiety... is there nothing that can stop the fuzz not make it worse?

What, dex? Not for everyone. You only know if you try it.

Errr...isn't this an old study? It may be one of the ones that were used to get Vyvanse licensed in the US. Are you suggesting there are new trials going on in the UK?

Are you suggesting there are new trials going on in the UK? check the dates of the resent amendments. "Last Updated on July 6, 2011" I think it's an ongoing trial. my ex husband is an editor for The Lancet. He can't find anything with NICE at the moment and could only find this regarding it but is still looking for me.

Beep - can you confirm if these trials are for the 6-17 age range only?
These are both extended release products - Intuniv being a formulation of guanfacine, a non stimulant medication that has so far been seen as fairly peripheral.
However - having a licence for children could mean that adults might be able to get either product on the NHS - if they make the list (and your PCT doesn't make them a RED product and prescribable only by specialist).

Just thought you might like to know that it is possible to obtain Vyvanse via the NHS. I've just started a trial regime (for me, not the drug company!) under the supervision of the Maudsley Hospital in London. They might be more willing to let me try it because I used Ritalin for over 20 years, Concerta for 4 or 5, and Strattera for 4. Not sure! Your mileage may vary.

Cool! Interesting that it's being called Venvanse here. Is it available now, or following some review? I.e. could I go into my Psychitrist (or GP) and ask for it to be prescribed?

i asked mine about this today and he went on that they'd been trying to get it for ages. I told him it was in phase three but he made out it was not going to happen. I would really like this. I find concerta only works for behaviour and dex is really temperamental. Don't get me started about strattera! I was thinking about looking into the cost of private treatment for this but i bet it's ridiculous.

Any news on vyvanse availability on NHS? Anyone knows what is the cost for private prescription?

Jolly good - as a routine prescription, or on a trial?

A quick head's up on Vyvanse It's available from Welbeck Pharmacy in London They usually have it and Adderall XR in stock but ring for availability. They don't have dexedrine spansules though Price is £112 per 30 caps of all strengths (min. 30 mg max. 70 mg) If I recall correctly, Adderall XR is a bit more. Also, my doctor seemed to think I'd need two a day. Luckily Vyvanse is not a controlled drug in the UK (yet). This means you can call up the pharmacy (once they have your prescription) and pay with your card over the phone -they then send you the pills the next day as a signed for parcel. My doctor is a regular at the pharmacy and speaks with the head pharmacist there quite a lot. I don't know if some arrangement needs to be made with Welbeck before hand? I doubt it though... Also, Vyvanse doesn't seem to last as long for me as the marketed 12-14 hours. I get a good 6 hours, then a (sometimes) gradual drop until the 12-14 hour mark. The hours after the sixth one aren't usually productive for me with single dosing. To get around the 6th hour thing I take 2/3rds of a 60 mg cap first thing, then 1/3rd two hours later. It does feels a lot cleaner to me than dex, I notice much less irritability, dizziness, nausea/side effects in general. Also feels "choppier" than dex, which made me tired. Good Luck Address: 35 Devonshire St, London. www.welbeckdrugs.com/retail-pharmacy.aspx

I had a look at the Shire website but I cannot find any further information on a timeframe of this medication being licenced in the UK and supported on the NHS, has anyone got further information?
