Just phoned up the outpatients department at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital to arrange a new appointment as I'd got a letter saying my appointment had been cancelled, with no offer of a new date. Lady on phone said the clinic was being transferred, or something?! Anyone have any information on this? What a very unexpected reply to "can I arrange a new appointment?"

The Lothian Adult ADHD Clinic is still running at the Andrew Duncan Clinic, Edinburgh Royal Hospital. Dr Prem Shah is still the lead clinician, but if you are a new patient you will probably be seen by a general psychiatrist first. I think only the severe cases of adult ADHD will be passed to the ADHD Clinic.
Sounds like the NHS Trust is trying to starve the clinic of resources, staff and patients - goofy logic - you will only be seen by an adult ADHD specialist once you have been assessed and prioritised by a non specialist.

CRY. Sigh, oh well, I'll add another few months onto my predicted waiting time, then And to think I could have been seen at the beginning of May if I'd not had an exam that day! Thanks for the info, though, very useful

I've not heard from them in way over a month. What should I do? Phone up the outpatient department again? I don't mind waiting (kinda ), I'd just like to be kept in the loop!

I would phone them again. I recently phoned to check on a couple of referals only to find that one of them had been sent in the post but I never received it! Had I not phoned up they probably would have assumed I hadn't replied because I no longer wanted their services and I would have dropped off their list! They will be used to people phoning to check on appointments, so better to phone them and reinforce the message that you want to be seen, I think.

Lille Photocopy the letters you have received from the Lothian Clinic and send the lot back to them with a letter just saying please will they let you know the soonest date for an appointment with Dr Shah that they have available, cc it to your GP and perhaps you MSP if you are feeling particularly angry.
