I've always been attracted to stimulants. I absolutely love coffee. I used to drink lots of Red Bull/Relentless. When I was a young adult I took Cocaine a few times, but I found it relaxed me rather than making high (like my friends) also making me have the best nights sleep I can remember.
Has anyone had similar experiences?

Can relate to the coffee and energy drink side of what your saying yes, before my diagnosis and thinking I was never gonna get help was even considering something "stronger" to help my symptoms of in ittentiveness.

I've never had any interest in illegal or recreational drugs, but I have always (even in childhood) drunk a lot of coffee, even before bed when it kind of helps me settle, rather than keeping me awake. I am horribly naive I know, but I didn't think of caffeine as a drug or stimulant, I didn't think about it at all, until a year or so ago, when I mentioned my caffeine intake casually to my GP whilst being seen about something else. He educated me, and I reduced my caffeine intake in some horror (I was hitting it hard at the time, unaware of the addictive properties and diminishing returns).
Becoming aware of my caffeine use, and the subsequent discussions with my GP was quite a big factor that led me to research my symptoms and learn about adult ADHD.

My friends were worried about my coffee consumption but when I tried to explain it calmed me down and I could think properley they just assumed I was addicted

I liked tea from quite a young age and always had to have a cup before school. I find coffee too "buzzy" for anything after midday, but do need to have a caffeinated drink to really get up to speed on medicated days. Makes me laugh because dexamphetamine is essentially speed!
I have had people make occasional comments about the amount I drink (I always have huge mugs and more of them) but I think they would be more concerned if it was coffee

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I actually always thought it was weird that coke would send me to sleep, I never liked doing it too much though, especially because of how it made my mates act. My brother (also suspected ADHD) was a pretty big coke head though.
I can't start a day without some monster, though!

Short answer, no.
Tea and coffee never did anything for me, except once in a blue moon when extremely tired, coffee helps me get to sleep.
I have always hated the smell of, and used to react badly to tobacco smoke.
The basic concept of addiction, (and absence of peer pressure plus non availability) kept me clear of anything stronger.
These days, realising that they might actually be helpful, I am tempted, but unless it can be obtained legally, who knows what might really be in that little package?
And if I manage to get them legally, and manage not to get addicted, what happens when I go abroad?
