Hi guys,
I'm 25 diagnosed at 12 , I've had numerous dead end jobs, fired from two but that was when was in my teens and wasn't really aware of how to deal with my adhd , well still don't but I went to college and gained an nvq level 1 and 2 diploma in professional catering and hospitality and managed to be fully employed as a chef for 3 years.
It was a struggle dispite being told I was a capable chef but had issues being on time to work , slightly disorganised and forgetful, near the end of the three years life really started to get on top of me and I really started to contimplate and learn about adhd and it hit me like a tone of bricks,
I quit my job because of depression and what I think was greif from a sudden realisation that my struggles were more than a matter of trying harder and my life flashed before me every issue and unachievmemt .
I quit despite my head chef asking me to stay, and to give him his dues he did leave proper prep lists for me and in prioritised in order,
adhd is a strange thing because there was times I could come in and blast through prep and run an entire section and deligate but other days I would just wake up and come to work and my mind was left in bed it was these days that really ran me into the ground and the comments , man how can you run a section and have a great service but screw up on organising yourself and gettin to work on time,
the fast paced work helped me focus but I would over do it and work 90 hour weeks and burnt out and would have no social life
Anyways I've been struggling to get my act together and start work again because I'm extremeley worried that getting back to work I will end up with another melt down and quit and fight to keep my sanity , I want to work but I'm afraid I'll end up on dla if I can even claim it.
I took medication very briefly as a kid but never stuck with it.
I've tried concerta , strattera and ritalin and didn't like any of them , I'm going to see my doc about trying vyvanse or elvanse its now called in the uk.
Howd u guys fair out on medication do they really help your work performance and help you focus and stop your brain craving that dopamine rush every 5 seconds
Thank in advance guys
