Hi,
Recently I've been diagnosed with ADHD-PI (predominatly inattentive) but I am not entirely sure if it's only that.
I have no problems sitting still for a long time, but I fidget with my legs and feet all the time, almost non-stop unless I am listening to or watching something very interesting. So my question is if it's normal to fidget a lot when seated if you suffer from ADHD-PI, cause it's not a symptom on the list.
However, it's listed on the hyperactive/impulsive type list of symptoms. I don't experience any other of the hyperactive/impulsive type symptoms, so I don't know whether I could have the combined type, or if it's possible to be ADHD-PI and still have a few symptoms from the other types.

The criteria for diagnosis are deliberately set to exclude what is considered to be a "normal" level of symptoms, and to include only those symptoms that are excessive, persistent and exhibited over a range of settings. Therefore it is quite possible (and quite common) for an individual to meet a dianostic threshhold in the area of inattention, but not quite to meet the same threshhold for hyperactivity. I am another such person, and I'm pleased to meet you. I'm not a visible fidgeter, or so I'm told. But sit me near a pile of beermats, and I will quickly and reliably give you a pile of beermat confetti!

Oh okay, that was exactly the answer I was looking for.
Nice to meet you too - and thanks!

Same here. I've been diagnosed with ADHD-PI, but have a very strong urge to move. I fidget all the time, get up for any excuse I can find (my wife gets waited on hand and foot ), can't go too long without training and am injury-prone because I tend to push myself too hard. I was doing mindfulness training last week where I needed to sit still and focus on myself at that moment (i.e. being mindful), after 15 minutes I felt as though I was going to burst. Because ADHD has a spectrum, it is only a matter of where you are on the spectrum and how the specialists interprets it that will deicide the final diagnosis. The treatment will be the same anyway. I think that with me it was mainly the level of control I have that pushed my into the PI end of the spectrum and the fact that as a child I was never any trouble in school or drew much attention to myself. edit: Welcome btw!

I am also adhd-pi and I am always fidgeting. I swing from being frozen when hyperfocussing and fearful, to being
hyperactive when relaxed or excited.
It is fascinating how Dutch becomes more attentive when he is active. I am like this too.
