Eating patterns and Psychological Characteristics in Adults with and without Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and/or symptoms of ADHD
Hello, my name is Panagiota and I am a PhD researcher at University of Birmingham, UK. I am running the study below which I hope will be of interest to you. Below are some of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) about our study. If you have further questions about the study, please email me at pxk368@bham.ac.uk
What is the study about?
You are being invited to take part in a research study looking into the eating patterns of individuals with and without ADHD and/or symptoms of ADHD and exploring what factors determine these eating patterns. This study received ethical approval from the University of Birmingham (Ref ERN_15-1050).
Who is taking part?
Participants aged 18-60 years old with or without ADHD are welcome to take part.
What will I have to do?
This is an online study. You will be asked to fill out some questions that look at patterns of eating behaviours and a variety of psychological characteristics. The study is expected to take approximately 40 mins in total.
What are the design/methods of the project?
In this study a correlational design will be applied, and data will be collected from individuals differing in severity of ADHD symptoms (e.g., participants with ADHD diagnosis, participants who meet only a number of ADHD symptoms, participants with no symptoms-controls). This approach is predicated on the assumption that personality factors and symptoms of disorder are best conceptualized dimensionally and occur with normal variation in the general population.
Our main outcome measures are measures that assess eating patterns. We also research the role of psychological characteristics in determining these eating patterns.
Who are involved in this research?
Dr Suzanne Higgs (Academic Supervisor)
Dr Colin Dourish (Co-Investigator)
Miss Panagiota Kaisari (PhD Student)
Who funds this study and what organizations are involved?
Miss Panagiota Kaisari is funded by the BBSRC for her PhD studies. We are based at the School of Psychology, University of Birmingham, UK. We collaborate with P1vital, an innovative Clinical Research Organisation, for this study.
When is the starting and expected completion date of this study?
This study starts 09/11/2015 and we hope to finish all data collection by 03/2016.
