I didn't know there was an age limit. If they're not your child, why don't you tell their parents, surely its up to them, and if it is your child, why don't you just put parental control on pc or stop them using it?

hey rane... you can quote this for practice!... i tried to learn the quoting thing a couple of months ago, but i was crap at it, so i stopped! Well that seemed to work, don't know why you're crap it it! However, there is some code I can add to the forum which will enable users to select text in advance of pressing QUOTE and it will only quote that selected text, if you don't select any text then it will quote the whole message. It would be useful but only if people were aware it existed, so still thinking about it. It may be just as easy to quote whole message and delete irrelevant bits (depending on size of message of course!) PB

I.ve got several photo editing packages and of course could've gone to the trouble of resizing but if you remember I was kinda in a hurry to go to bed! So I just looked for a smaller one. She's not ignoring you though, she's there, just have to open post to view her!

Hi Andy
OK, problem solved, it is an admin thing that has to be activated for each individual board. Will look into changing it, see pm.

OK Andy, as promised in my PM to you just now, I am replying to this message in Chrome and there is an attachment button under the subject box. In IE it is a box (I think if I remember rightly from earlier) rather than a button, but its definately there and I can't understand why you're not seeing it. Did you look at the proboards forum?

PB are you self taught on web design or is it something you have studied? just curious My answer to that depends on what you're gonna pick me up on!! PS What is the difference? If I was self-taught, wouldn't I have studied it?

Hmm, PB, I suppose the worst thing is widescreen vs 4:3 monitors as using % for html elements will actually result in differences of the vertical plane. Bit annoying, I say. How will you handle this? I personally don't use percentages in web design usually. But if you're setting the width at a set %, it makes no difference what width of screen is used!! If using % width, part of page will be absolute and the relative part will just be wider on wide screen. No probs!

I saw my 'guide dog dog-walking companion' yesterday when I was walking Beauty. He has a lovely snow white lab at the mo, she's gorge, 8 months old. I'm so fascinated by them. He's also looking after a 10 week old black lab guide dog pup for another person while they're away for a couple of days! I was chatting to him for ages, they're so remarkable.
By the way, with reference to my previous post where I said that his last dog failed, I asked him why again because I'd forgotten, and it was such a shame because he was a lovely, bright dog but he developed an allergy and so didn't pass.
He was telling me about Harley, the one before who I was in love with, with his blind owner, he goes to church and apparently when the kneel to pray, they've taught Harley to kneel too!! lol I really bonded with that dog, I miss seeing him!

There seems to be a lot of debate on the web as to the correct saying. I was always told it was 'Blue and green should never been seen without a colour in between'. And it seems to be the general consensus that it is blue and green as opposed to red and green as they are similar in colour. If red and green should not be seen, what happens at Christmas?

sorry PB sure youve been working hard just getting nurdy about typography. Trying not to be as pedantic as everyone else is but typography refers to printed matter rather than web design: typography (definition): 1 a The art and technique of printing with movable type. b The composition of printed material from movable type. 2 The arrangement and appearance of printed matter. Its very difficult to design websites when all the users have different size monitors, different screen resolutions, use different browsers etc. What looks good on 1 doesn't look so good on another.

And the length of the lines has not changed from previously, but no one mentioned it before!!! So why now?
|
|
|
Post by pinkbeauty on Aug 19, 2009 8:17:45 GMT
The lines adjust to the size of your screen! The forum fits on 92% of your screen, whatever the size of it.
(I've never heard of a rule which says 9 words fit to a line!!)

PB i some times loose the lines as they are so long but nothing major its just a bit bright look like casper the goast with the lights off. I'm not sure what you mean S? What lines? It shouldn't be so bright now as I've toned down the white to the same colour it was before.

did it go skinny at one point last night or was it just my sleep deprived brain tricking me? lol As I don't possess the code for this website (its hosted by proboards), I'm unable to try things out on my own PC and see if they work before I upload, hence why you might notice some new things or weird things!! But, you're right, I was experimenting with the width and various other things very late last night! You really hadn't drunk too many wines! The only other option is that I close it down temporarily for modification while I play with it but I really don't want to do that. Anyway, if you spot something new, I appreciate the feedback! (Fortunately no one noticed when I forgot to close a comment tag and the whole forum disappeared for a few seconds til I put it back in!!)

do they?... ;D -just kidding, it looks nice, the only thing that i keep noticing is the white, it seems a little bright. -but might just be my cave dwelling eyes! -matt It cracks me up that people keep mentioning the white when it was white before! Actually black on white which is more startling!! There is less white now than there was previously. Maybe its because I've incorporated the grey (which wasn't previously there) and it draws people's attention to the white, whereas before it was all white? I'm gonna post a picture to show you what it was like before to prove it!!

I did it that way as well laura lol. I found the site later And PB, the changes r cool, just snot green isnt up there in my favourite colours lol Yes, yes MadScott, so you keep saying!!! What a lovely, bright, fresh colour it is! But lets face it, you ain't gonna please everyone ... etc. And would you seriously want it to look the same as every other forum out there? You wait til I try out my upside down and back-to-front idea!

The actual colour of the previous background was f1f1f1, as opposed to ffffff which is pure white, but nowhere near the grey that we also have. f1f1f1 if you want to check it out is slightly off white and the font was black which is harsher than our dark grey.
It doesn't matter how you found us, at least you did! And now you know about site too, so all good. I'll work on putting a link back to site somewhere at top for those people who don't come here via site.
Joking aside, I do appreciate your comments and if it does cause problems, I'd like to know.
PB
