I can't find any posts on here about NELFT beyond this one, in the general discussions from 2014: aadduk.proboards.com/thread/7289/number-adult-adhd-clinics-country?q=North+East+London+Foundation+Trust+
I was given an appointment recently to come in to see a member of the Assessment Team, who, when I phoned up the clinic, told me they were a social worker?
Twice when I phoned the clinic and asked them about their Adult ADHD services, and what that appointment was for, no one could give me a straight answer? Like the staff seemed confused. Even when I had my assessment, the social worker taking the assessment (to see if I need to be referred to the psychiatric/psychologist(?) team didn't seem to know if their (one??? adhd specialist) was in-house or out-house.
Today I got a letter back from the NELFT team saying to give me an appointment for an actual ADHD (i hope) assessment. With "Dr". I didn't even get told this doctors name because they didn't write it in my letter, so I can't research them at all.
I want to trust that this NHS service is actually going to give me the support I need, but so far, these several relatively 'small' experiences haven't filled me with an ounce of confidence because no one I spoke to seemed to have any of their information straight. So I'm honestly worried about being seen by a general psychiatrist there or someone else, if so far, everything has made me feel like I'm not going to get a good service.
(I don't want to close the only 'open door' available to me in terms of accessing a clinical assessment and treatment. I already have an educational assessment.)
But has anyone (specifically in Redbridge) had any experience with the access team and assessment process? If you have:
- What was your experience like?
- How did your assessment go?
- Was the service good and did it help you?
GPs would refer to the Access Team from NELFT. The person would be seen by someone in the Access Team, who would then refer to the appropriate professional in that Access Team.
