Just wondering if anyone has experience of this drug been prescribed for ADHD instead of stimulants. A friend is taking it apparently for ADHD but googling it and can't find any references to its use for ADHD treatment only for chronic pain and opiate addiction

Hi
Are you sure it is Buprenorphine? I haven't heard of that being prescribed for ADHD. Could it possibly have been Bupropion?
I have recently been taking Bupropion for ADHD with some success, but have had to stop due to a severe allergic reaction. It's not a commonly prescribed drug for treatment of ADHD (especially in the UK) but it does seem to work quite well for some people if they can't take the stimulant medications that are usually the first line of treatment.
Not all doctors are willing to prescribe it, as it is not approved for treatment of ADHD in the UK. However, it is approved by the NHS for smoking cessation, so if your GP is willing to prescribe 'off list' you may still be able to get it. It is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, so I found it very helpful with regard to the mood lability that is often a very disabling part of ADHD. I'm gutted that I had to stop, but the skin blisters were very alarming (still healing, 2 weeks on).
