Project description
Thank you for taking the time to read about this project.
We are a group of researchers from Birkbeck, University of London, investigating ADHD in adults.
Our aim is to understand individual differences in ADHD, and how different ADHD medications may affect cognitive abilities.
The study will be part of the PhD thesis of one of the researchers (Andrea Caso)
The study will take place at Birkbeck, University of London, in the Bloomsbury Area (WC1E 7HX) and it will take up to 1.5 hours (including filling out the questionnaires, the task is much shorter)
Participants will receive £15 for their time.
Project objective
In this study, we would like to see how different sets of abilities differ in individuals with an ADHD diagnosis and the
type of medication they are taking. Ideally, this should help tailor future treatments to individual needs and abilities
and help devising more reliable cognitive biomarkers.
The design/methods of the project
Participants will be asked to complete an engaging task (a card game) on a touch pad on two different conditions.
In one they will have unlimited time, in the other one, they have to complete the task within a time limit.
Then, they will be asked to fill out a few standard questionnaires on ADHD symptoms, anxiety/depression, and daily forgetfulness.
The list of questionnaires is available upon request.
Participants will NOT be assessed on their performance. All data will remain STRICTLY anonymous and confidential.
We are compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Characteristics of required participants
To take part, participants have to be over 21, have received a diagnosis of ADHD, be currently taking medications,
and have no neurological complications (TBI, epilepsy, migraine, focal brain damage).
Main outcome measures
Difference between different type of errors in the 'unlimited time' condition and in the 'limited time' condition.
