What am I dealing with here?
Any input is greatly received!!
I am a mum to a 7year old girl. By the age of 3 we knew she had a issue with loud noises...would cover her ears, sob and act like she is in physical pain. This could be set off by a hand dryer, a car backfiring, a firework or even a trip to the circus!!
Starting school at 5yrs she confused B D a lot and suggested a hearing test...all fine.
At year 1 the senco said they felt she had ADD (ADHD without the hypo) we got referred to a clinic and they said NFA until WE as parents thought there was an issue.
Well now you know our background let me tell you more about her.....
1. She is very behind on her reading. On level 4 whereas most in class are off levels and on chapter books.
2. She is VERY literal. We have to be careful what we say.
3. If she becomes too upset or angry or becomes a meltdown. She will cry continuously for a good hour, sometimes just saying 'no' over and over again. Fingers in her mouth and may dribble a bit
4. She fidgets. But not all the time
5. She LOVES to climb and will climb anything!! Rat up a drain pipe springs to mind.
6. She has short term memory issues. In the mornings I have to remind her 3 or 4 times for every task.
7. She can be impulsive but not excessively.
8. No danger awarness - if distracted by something would wall straight into a busy road.
9. Doesn't quite seem to grasp the social side of friends - especially if they dont want to play her game OR she doesn't understand their game.
So with this and sensitivity to sound...does this sound like ADHD to you with those that has been diagnosed?
We know something isn't quite right but not entirely sure.
Any help is appreciated
