Hi everyone,
I am new here and was hoping you lovely people could help me... after a particularly low period I went private and got diagnosed with ADHD (with a side of anxiety and depression). But I am not really comfortable with how the assessment went and am not confident in the diagnosis. I will try meds (the Dr. suggested Elvanse), but I would really like to get the opportunity to talk to an adhd specialist (although the diagnosing doctor is qualified to diagnose ADHD her specialty is trauma and PTSD) again and for longer, as well as try some therapy options. Unfortunately going private for my diagnosis already broke the bank...does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about getting therapy through the nhs? whats the procedure...?
thank you! Hannah

Hi Hannah
Although I'm afraid I don't know the procedure I'm guessing u'll have 2 speak 2 ure gp
That seems 2 b the starting point 4 everything
Unfortunately in some areas (such as where I live) there's no services 4 adults with ADHD
but I believe u can apply 4 out of area services if u fit the criteria
But it's NHS so don't get ure hopes up
Good luck let us know how u progress I'm considering trying some kind of therapy myself
if u manage 2 get some kinda help I'd b interested in how u got it and if u found it beneficial
Take care and good luck
