I'm sure I have ADHD (inattentive type) but would feel very anxious about taking medication for it. I've heard I won't get a referral to the NHS ADHD diagnostic service if I'm not willing to take it. Is this true?

I don't think medication gets talked about until u get diagnosed
Be prepared 2 answer how u hope a diagnosis will improve your life
For me a diagnosis got me a time extension on an online test 4 the job I'm doing now
still failed the test but after I sent an email I got an interview and ultimately the job
Goodluck in whatever u do

You should ask yourself whether it's worth wasting everyone's time if you don't intend to pursue a chemical intervention.
I would argue that you'll have all the negatives (association with ADHD is like crop blight for your career) with no real positive outcome.
Sure, you'll get extra time on tests but the second you tell them why is the same second you'll be silently disqualified for anything meaningful.
Some will say the sense of belonging one feels from being diagnosed can be worth it's weight in gold but the reality is, if you *know* you have it, getting the official badge for The World's Greatest Underachievers is something of a hollow victory.
Everyone's different, though. Just do what feels right.
