Hello,
We are seeking adults with a diagnosis of ADHD aged between 18-35 years to take part in a trial investigating the effects of exercise on ADHD symptoms and behaviours.
Title: Investigating the effects of cardio and non-cardio
exercise on adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder (ADHD)
Researchers: Dr Eleanor Dommett, Reader in Neuroscience at King's College London and Larisa Dinu, Research Assistant at King's College London.
Funder: Rosetrees Trust
Start date: September 2019
End date: September 2021.
Ethics: It has been approved by King's College London Education committee: LRS-18/19-13264 and REC: 20/NS/0053.
Participation involves two stages:
1) filling out a short online screening survey here: tinyurl.com/ExerciseADHD. The screening survey asks a few demographic questions (age, gender), ADHD diagnosis and medication (if applicable), ADHD symptoms and fitness levels as you will be required to exercise for 12-minutes later on.
2) attending a 2-hour lab visit at London Bridge. You will complete a short eye-tracking task (where we monitor your gaze), some computer tests which measure attention and impulsivity and exercise for 12 minutes, either in the cardio condition (on a bicycle) or in the yoga condition (guided yoga session). You will also be wearing a watch similar to a fit bit, which will measure your movements during the session.
You will receive a £22 Amazon voucher as a 'thank you' for your participation.
Aim: The aim of the study is to see whether exercise can be effective in managing ADHD symptoms, either on its own or in combination with medication.
Who can take part?
- 18-35 years
- diagnosis of ADHD
- either taking psychostimulant medication or not taking any medication
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at larisa.dinu@kcl.ac.uk.
Best wishes,
Larisa
