Hi,
Does anyone have any recommendations for a private diagnosis in London with a view to move to NHS Shared Care later?
I have been recently diagnosed with ADHD by the ADHD Centre in London. I was happy with my overall experience however when I called up my GP about it, he said apparently they diagnose everyone with ADHD. Not sure what to make of this throwaway comment but it has disheartened me (as I felt being diagnosed with ADHD explained a lot of problems I have had my whole life).
Now I am having second thoughts and was wondering what the ADHD Centre's reputation was within the industry? And if there were any recommendations of where to get a second opinion?
Thanks

Hi there,
I'm having the same issue. Just paid for a private diagnosis and was diagnosed with ADHD.
Whilst I can't fault the doctors qualifications I have got concerns they are just giving out diagnosis because it benefits them, I guess it's always a risk when going private but I am concerned the experience felt geared towards profit. Does anyone else have any thoughts/experiences with this clinic?
alikelyadhd have you had any further interactions with them?
Thanks in advance!

They're expensive but I had a great time with Clinical Partners. They employ staff that also work for the NHS so I thought they'd be good to go to as they might be more accepted than the completely separate private companies. So far, so good! I went onto the treatment waiting list for the NHS services immediately after getting my diagnosis with them and had no issues with people doubting my diagnosis!

Hi, how long does the treatment waiting list take? I’m considering trying to get a diagnosis through clinical partners too.

I saw dr Andrew Parker at nightingale hospital. When he learnt of my financial situation, he referred me to my nhs gp himself. I only paid for the initial review and the rest of my diagnosis was done via nhs. He wrote a very comprehensive report to explain his thoughts to my gp which helped immensely. I am now under the adhd service trying to find the right meds. I checked a few places before approaching him but I honestly can’t fault the device I received. Not cheap but I was willing to pay for the full assessment. He convinced me to wait due to the cost while understanding my need for an answer and I felt he was very compassionate over my situation.

Hi, I was diagnosed at the London ADHD centre a few years ago. I've never had any problems with them and they've really helped me. My life has improved immeasurably since starting treatment.
It just makes me sad I wasn't diagnosed as a kid - I might have turned out to be a Doctor or Lawyer by now if I had. LOL.
