Investigating self-compassion & self-criticism in people with and without ADHD.
Take part here: sheffieldpsychology.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_d6G0DAs1zYHn0lD
We are running an online experiment to explore new ways to measure levels of self-compassion and self-criticism and we are seeking people with ADHD to take part - either people with a formal diagnosis or people who self-identify as having ADHD. As a thank you, you will be entered into a prize draw to win one of two £25 Amazon Vouchers.
You will answer some questions about your wellbeing and behaviour and then complete an experimental task online where you will read some statements on the screen and respond by pressing one of two buttons. We will be measuring your reaction time and accuracy in this task.
Overall, the study will take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete.
The research is being untaken by Danielle Beaton (BSc, MSc, MA) for her PhD project and being supervised by Dr Fuschia Sirois, and Professor Elizabeth Milne. All the researchers are based at The University of Sheffield in the Psychology Department, where this project was ethically approved. We expect data collection to finish by January 2021.

charles: Hi, my grandson is suffering from ADHT in Northamptonshire. He is suffering badly and has issues with substance misuse. He has had treatment for that but is now in a fragile state. Where can we find someone to assess him for ADHT treatment etc?

lydsssx: I really need help getting a diagnosis

fritzo1990: Hi Byron. Yeah, really sad to see the addforums finally bite the dust. It's been dying a slow death. I did message the site owner about overtaking the server and funding, but received no reply sadly. Hopefully some members will move to here - Fraser_0762

Byron: Ailsa, I do wonder. Personally I don't find this forum the easiest to navigate and the missing first posts just compound that. I like the vbulletin style forums, like addforums, even though that seems to have finally disappeared.

ailsa: Are you still trying guys? I'm having the same problem. Is this actually an unmanaged, defunct board?
Mar 10, 2021 16:07:25 GMT
Byron: Beeurd yes that's what I'm doing to see 1st posts too, it doesn't happen all the time though, which is weird... Anyway, are there any moderators or "Staff" here who could address this?

beeurd: I only just joined but I did notice that the first post keeps disappearing. I used the dev tools in Chrome to inspect the code and it seems the div or paragraph with the disappearing text has a "display: hidden" style added to it for some reason.

suzeebluecheese: The issue with the hidden thread starting posts is not just with new posts pending approval. I checked old posts from last Summer. No content. I’d attach a screenshot to illustrate but there doesn’t seem to be a mechanism to do that.
Feb 1, 2021 19:12:44 GMT
suzeebluecheese: Yes, Byron. I have the same problem of the first post on a thread disappearing. It’s a bit frustrating as I can see all the replies, just not the content they’re replying to. I use an iPad.

easilydistracted: I think they may still be viewable on phones as well
Jan 10, 2021 18:02:03 GMT
easilydistracted: Hi Byron, If it's a post by a new user then it's it's a quirk of the moderation system - posts by new users are hidden until approved by a moderator. You can still read it if you select page source and read the raw HTML code

Byron: Also, while I'm here, does anyone else have a problem with the first message of a thread disappearing as the page loads?
Jan 10, 2021 17:18:43 GMT
Byron: Hi Thor974, I've checked in on here most days and I think it just is that quiet. Plus that requires scrolling down!
Jan 10, 2021 17:17:51 GMT
thor974: just thought id mention it. is it me or the system ?
Jan 9, 2021 22:44:20 GMT
thor974: Hi All, this shout box doesn't seem to be updating, last shout on here I have is Dec 12th 2020.

Byron: Thanks Mollymoo, I mentioned psychiatry-uk and right to choose and things went pretty smoothly, sorry to hear your experience wasn't so good, you'd hope that they'd be aware of these things!
Dec 12, 2020 15:43:47 GMT
Mollymoo: My Doctor doesn't seem to know about "right to choice". Everything is such a battle. It's so frustrating.
Dec 7, 2020 13:12:25 GMT
Mollymoo: Wasteytime - I'm pleased to hear you had some luck with the "right to choice" and have your diagnosis. I just found out about this and I'm going to do the same. I'm looking at psychiatry-uk. Byron you should check out the "right to choice" maybe.

wasteytime: I am a 54 year old woman, not sure how people will take my diagnosis yet
Nov 28, 2020 8:14:05 GMT
wasteytime: Diagnosed two days ago, I didn’t have to wait, I did the right to choose and had an online appointment. It was scary but actually all good. I would recommend but won’t mention the company
