At the moment I am finding it impossible to get through the day without drinking around 8 cans of Guiness. It's 4.1% alcohol so not that strong but the doctor has told me my liver is not in good shape.
I am seeing the doctor on sunday to try and get back on Prozac and Concerta XL.
Does anyone else have problems drinking and what are you doing to try and cope with it?
Hello. I'm lucky not to have an alcohol problem, but have lost friends to drink. There is some correlation with ADHD and impulsive behaviour. I suppose you can either try a few days alcohol free in an effort to moderate, or if it's really affecting your health, and it sounds like it is, take the plunge into AA.

acorn: Hi Rossall, I have been informally diagnosed by a psycho therapist but am a waiting list to see the specialist through my GP. I can’t get meds otherwise. My daughter is seeing a psychiatrist privately on Sat. It seems like a lot, out of the blue.

acorn: Hello everyone. I have just found out I have ADHD and my 6 year old daughter has an assessment for it on Sat. I’m feeling very overwhelmed by all of this and really needed some real stories that from real people.

Rossall: Thanks for the reply. I was on Concerta about 6 years ago for a couple on months. It seemed to work at first but then wore off. Then I moved several times and changed GPs and have not been on it since

liztopher: Rossall - yeah, the access to support sucks pretty hard. Potential way round it if your GP meant that they can't prescribe it in the first place, they could probably continue prescribing it if you were already stable on something?

Rossall: GP says doctors in my town won't precribe ADHD meds so I need to see a specialist for which there's a 2 year waiting list. Oh well.

Rossall: Hi everyone. Am hopefully getting back on Concerta XL if I can persuade my GP. Should help with my drinking.

key: Hi all, as ridiculous as it sounds, only recently have I actually researched and understood my own behaviours and linked them to ADHD. Have not approached GP, so self diagnosis as it stands.
