Hi Everyone, We just got the following email from Janssen Cilag: We have news of a new and exciting competition – Picture My Life, which is an opportunity for you to describe your life through art and a chance to win £1000! The winning entries will be displayed at a prestigious gallery in London on Thursday 17th December and the winners will have the chance to attend an evening reception to celebrate the winning art. The closing date for all entries is Friday 13th November The competition is being supported by Janssen-Cilag and you can find all the details by following the link below: www.picturemylife.co.ukGood luck! Thats a great competition, with fantastic prizes! ;D But Can we have our own one here, (without the fantastic prizes), so people without dx can have a go?

The judges will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. The winners will each be awarded a cash prize and invited to attend a private exhibition of the competition entries in London.
Prizes All art entered into Picture My Life With ADHD will be displayed for private viewing at La Galleria - London, 17th December 2009. Prizes will be awarded directly to the winners as follows:
•1st prize winner - £1000 plus travel to London and 1 nights accommodation for the winner and a guest to attend the private exhibition. •2nd prize winner - £500 plus travel to London and 1 nights accommodation for the winner and a guest to attend the private exhibition. •3rd prize winner - £250 plus travel to London and 1 nights accommodation for the winner and a guest to attend the private exhibition.
I think am going to go to this whatever as would like to go to somthing decent to do with ADHD instead of all the negative stuff tend to be surounded by.

So what is a "reflection of life with ADHD"
its like a rollercoaster of highs lows anziety, confusion, frustration, depresion, illation, anger, danger, isolation, feeling lost, poverty, violence, harassment, self doubt, low self esteam, suicide, criminality, pharmasuticles, obsesion, manic missions, hyperactivity, energy, humor, bravery, drugs, insomnia, alarms, diarys, postit notes, writing on your hands, loosing things, being fucked over time and time again, JSA, DLA, NHS, NICE, Coaches, doctors, Coucilors, fucked up familys, Speeding tickets, Apathy, outcast .........
supose its diffrent for everyone but how do you break that down and illustrate it supose it could be just one part like an ADHD clinic ontop of like everest like a lord of ring painting with dali elephants on stilt legs in the back ground of a desert.
What gets me the most as how i feel this has left me in a rut that if I didnt have I would be a million miles away from current sitch and its like your just meant to say O well never mind and except it, fucked up, if you ask me!

Safe..You have summed it up better than i ever could, perhaps you need to write all this down in a graphic-picture format, you've explained it so well there???
i have a few ideas too, keep planning in my head, a mixed-media piece, but i can't get started!!!
The deadline is too close, i need months to fit this in with my normal crazy life!

Simone
Simplify let the short deadline be part of the challenge, I am going to ring them tommorow and see what type of thing to enter as was thinking I go Tate and like all modern art stuff, like a bed made of metal that signifies how a rape victim felt about a bed etc after the event but I dont no if I should go that way out so going to see if can get some guidence. My tutor told me of a comp he did at workshop to build a flying craft and they were gona time how long it was in the air, he took his group the pub and had a nice chat and they were all worried and he said relax and lets have some fun getting to know each other.
When they went back after lunch the other groups were bizzy adding the finishing touches to their crafts and then proceded to launch and have them timed when it was my tutors turn he got a piece of paper scrunched it up went to the top of the buiding and threw it of the roof and won. Just need to find an alternative way of looking at things.
Also my list was a bit of a downer sorry here is somthink more positive:

But then we are the only ones who take chances and push things forward like Branson going into space, we are the inovaters!.......who cant spell LOL ;D

i think the ultimate artistic tribute to ADHD would be, a totally empty gallery...
- i rekon all you have to do to win the £1000, is be the only ADHDer in the UK who actually gets round to submitting an entry!...
maybe i'm just being cynical and their postbags are bulging with submissions... but i doubt it!
-matt (may have got out of bed the wrong side)

;D
Actually they said that they've had a great response to the competition (I don't know how that translates into actual numbers or even submissions) but I think it would be absolutely lovely if a forum member won the competition ;D
Hope you're feeling better matt?
