I've been intrigued about the idea of coaching. It feels like financial issues are the reasons more people don't try it... when you're earning just above minimum wage it seems hard to find the money to pay £50 an hour for several sessions. It also seems that mind starts saying things like "You don't need to pay someone to help you sort this out! Just get on with it!" more than ever.
I was wondering if it might be more cost effective in the long run if we learn how to be an ADHD coach. How much does it cost fot the 4 day training etc? Would this work or would it be like aquiring knowledge but not being able to apply it (knowledge without power)... is that involvement of a second person key?

Hi there, it sounds like a great concept and i do train people with adhd to become coaches themselves, they do however have to be in a position to act as a role model to their clients ie the opposite of the challenges their clients face - some of my adhd coaches are medicated themselves and some also have a coach supervisor (usually me) who monitors their practice and offers advice and guidance. If y ou would like to know more about my training please send me your email address - im reluctant to advertise on here, it doest seem appropriate but will always supply info if people ask. You may not be aware that im looking for people for FREE COACHING at the moment for my undergraduate students and have had only minimal response so if you would like to try adhd coaching for free - let me know!!

Hi there,
I'm a person with ADHD and I've noticed the lack of coaches and professional knowledge available in the UK so I'm to train to become an ADHD coach to help people like myself who never got the help they needed.
Please could you kindly advise what courses I need to do, and where to start?
Many thanks for your time.

Hi - I'm in adult with ADHD diagnosed just over a year ago - I have been a mental health nurse for many years (Im a nurse consultant and specialist community mental health practitioner) and I'm a therapist (I have a post graduate diploma in CBT). I am also a prescriber and have been trained to assess, diagnose and treat for ADHD - but most of all I'm an adult with a very disorganised head and a growing awareness of needing to manage this. This has brought me more and more o the realisation that I need to shift my career slightly and am looking at coaching but don't know where is best to begin. I have a teaching qualification and years and years of working with people with mental health problems both as a nurse and a CBT therapist. so I am wondering if I can build on these rather than starting from scratch - anybody got any suggestions? I'd be really grateful for any help
thanks
J :-)

Hi guys, I am a 27 year old social, emotional and mental health HLTA in a challenging behavior unit in south Tyneside. I have had ADHD for as long as I can remember and I have learned to very successfully turn it into a positive part of my life as it allows me to show empathy and real understanding to the youngsters I teach. My school had asked me if I would be interested in becoming an ADHD mentor/coach and supporting the students, there families and the other staff members within the school. However I have to source the qualification myself however they will fund it. Can anyone please recommend a path to take to complete a recognized qualification.
Thanks in advance,
Kris
