Hi there - Just joined a minute ago, having stewed all day about someone very close to me saying I am so flakey and therefore should possibly do a post-grad and become a social worker!!! Have got to my final year of a radiotherapy degree as a very mature student - well hardly mature, just old ! - and am very proud that despite all this flakiness have got this far and look like I might actually get qualified next summer. However, most of my fellow-practitioners are incredibly intolerant of anyone remotely 'not normal' (patients spring to mind), especially when someone like me comes with highly inappropriate impulsive comments during teabreaks (I think they're funny!) instead of being a straight robot, 24/7. Has anyone else thought of the ideal profession for ADDers? I do a lot of creative writing as well, but all my notebooks are hiding in the clutter I've accumulated. Have vowed I will finish a children's story by end of degree, but it keeps distracting me from my dissertation. (blinkin anything distracts me from that!! ;D) I should think being a social worker takes a lot of organisational skills, but then so does modern life generally. Ah well! Hey, another flakey here!
People have said allsorts and don't understand how un thoughtful and hurtful it can be. Especially when you know it is true but can't control it. :-(
My favourite was my mate the other day, her dad called while she was at mine and said to her 'How's Lottie? Still in a world of her own?!'
made me laugh at how well they know me but sad at the same time :-( xxx
