Are you an adult with ADHD in Cambridgeshire? Our Local Clinic Needs You!
The Cambridge Adult ADHD Clinic is currently overwhelmed with referrals for adults locally to be diagnosed and receive support. So far, services have been limited, and this is creating a huge delay in appointments - leading to long waiting lists even to be seen for diagnosis. We need to highlight this problem and let people know there isn't enough support for the need locally.
How Can I Help?
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) are going to inspect the clinic this month. We need to make them aware of this issue by sending in comments about the size of the problem and the difficulties it creates for people.

Choose: Member of the Public and Complain about a care service
Dear Sir/Madam:
I am writing to you about the long waiting list for adults seeking diagnosis and treatment for ADHD in Cambridgeshire.
I am currently on the waiting list and have been for XXX months.
or
I received a diagnosis in XXX, however it took XXXXX for me to receive a diagnosis and XXX to access treatment of any kind.
It has come to my attention that due the limited amount of service available for these patients, referrals will have to be refused in order to deal with the backlog of patients needing to be seen. A high demand for a service must surely indicate a need to devote more services in support of these individuals, not reduce the opportunity for patients to receive recognition for their difficulties and begin to undergo treatment to ease their suffering. Denial of access to support is not only debilitating for these individuals and their families, but will have a larger social impact on their ability to work and contribute effectively to society. We need more help and more awareness in Cambridgeshire to help those with ADHD be understood and to function successfully and effectively.
Every Voice Matters! Thank You For Your Help!!
