My son is at university studying Adult Nursing and has been asked to withdraw from his course as he has failed an exam - this is despite passing all his assessments and practical work with flying colours. He has appealed but this has been turned down by the faculty and he has just until Thurs 5th November to respond to this decision. Does anyone have any suggestions or can anyone signpost me so we can get him some support please?

I need to say this gently but firmly.... there is very likely more to the story than failing one exam.
He probably feels very low and very ashamed to be in this mess but he needs to open up to someone quickly, if he is to ask for an appeal or help to resit part of the course.
If things have soured badly with his course tutors, then it may be worth ringing Student Services to ask for an impartial advisor to help clarify the position.
He will need to act quickly and/or get a doctor's note if he is not well enough to sort this by Thursday. Best to contact the uni asap whatever he plans to do.
