UPDATE: The company has just emailed me to say they'd like to agree on an out-of-court settlement! All I need to do now is negotiate a reasonable amount, or to take things further to the ET - I think I have this on lock if I do have to anyway, since I pretty much destroyed every single point they made at the preliminary hearing and they weren't even able to respond to or comment on most of the things I said . ADHD discrimination isn't uncommon so be sure to always stand up for yourselves and to never give up! Thanks everyone for all the help; I honestly wouldn't have had the courage to go through with this all myself if it weren't for you guys .

YAY! Well Done adhdude for sticking with it! Especially with your other difficulties recently. I have no idea how much you should ask for as settlement, it might be worth getting some advice from someone who knows about these things. Such a big company should be taken to account for it's discrimination. . . however, I know that what you really wanted was the job. . . You'll get another one. . who wants to work for a company that discriminates anyway?

I know, I don’t think I want to work for the company anymore. At least its true colours were revealed before I could become a part of it. I’m really tempted to disclose the name of the company to raise awareness amongst everyone here but I’m not sure if I’d get into trouble for that or not (I think you already know because of my little slip earlier in the thread (...oops). I’d think I wouldn’t but I’ll just play it safe for now. Thanks again

Update: I decided not to accept the £5k offer. I was required to attend a second preliminary hearing, which, by the way, was terrifying since it was literally just me with no lawyer/solicitor/barrister/etc. against 9 people from Company X - all while in the same room!!! I had about 5 pages of documents whereas Company X had a huge bundle of about 4-5 inches thick (no exaggeration - it even had to be ring-bound). That hearing lasted the entire day from 10 AM to about 17:30 and involved a lot of back and forth and questioning etc. The judge eventually decided to rule in my favour and arranged a final hearing (a 6-day one since it's a complicated case !!).
A few days later, company X sent me an email offering £10k, which I have now accepted. When I initially started this case, I saw an employment solicitor and a legal advisor, both of whom had valued my case at a maximum of £5k, so I think £10k is a good offer. It’s not as good as the proper apology I was hoping for from the start but I guess it somewhat makes up for things (certainly doesn’t undo things, though, which I would gladly have spent my £10k on if I could). Beyond the settlement offer, though, I did still learn a huge amount and I did also gain a lot of much-needed confidence from the process – I’d personally say that’s worth far more than the £10k. It’s been a really interesting experience. Definitely very difficult and stressful but certainly also something to look back at and feel proud about. I might've been able to push things further but decided that I've done enough and am happy enough with how far I got. Company X have also sweated enough over this to make me feel better about it all . Now I can put it behind me and focus on getting a new job and doing well in my last year of education too. Anyway, I guess that concludes my case. Thanks everyone for being a part of this. I have kept this all a big secret from my family and most of my friends (because I’ve felt uncomfortable with talking about it), so it’s been great to have people to talk to about it over here .

Wow! adhdude Company X must have really been scared that they'd be found out to have been discriminatory! I had no idea that you've been doing this on your own. .even more well done! I'm glad you found it a positive experience and you now have £10K, which is always a help, especially as you're still studying. . and they can afford it! I'm so pleased for you.
