I am so proud of myself! Housing Benefit gave me 1 month to submit my accounts (about as simple as accounts can possibly be, no expenses, no deductions, just adding up small weekly earnings). So I did that but left it to last minute, so had to drive up and personally hand in the envelope 2 hours before the deadline was up. But that's not what I'm proud about. Oh, no. This morning I thought, given that I have got the figures here, I may as well do my Tax Return and my Tax Credit form. And then I only went and did it!!! Going to the post box right now before I run out of whatever miracle magic chemical has found its way into my brain today. And I'm not telling any bloody psychs about this aberration!

OMG - that is triple quadruple points!!!!
Congratulations for hb thing actually in but enormous round applause for the dreaded tax return / tax credits - mine have both been sitting there since April and they've started the scary reminders from Mariella Frostrop now - heard for first time yday.... You deserve huge smug smile beaten only in size by a massive glass of red!

And I posted it as well! God, I'm good!
Mariella Frostrop? Is that a TV Tax Credits ad? One reason to be grateful for not having a licence.
Hmmm, not sure it's wine o'clock yet ...

Yatta!
I've actually sat down and written a letter-style e-mail to someone I haven't spoken/mailed to in months if not years. All in one go. With a coherent thoughtline in it.
I could get used to this!

I have a friend up here I do help-swaps with. The last one was I weeded her allotment (well, part of it) and she is going to fit a shower for me. (Feel I need to do a bit more weeding, first.) Previously there were three of us and we all went to each other's houses to jointly do jobs we'd been putting off. It makes them so much easier to do. I love gardening and love helping people to get their gardens in order.

My home looks like something that might win the Turner prize from what I've seen. Its a f%£king mess but would probably win a prize if I ever got round to entering. Guess I'm a pretty damn good artist.
Loads of other things I'm great at but too modest and don't have the time to tell you them all at the moment because of the Tribunal I'm going through at work.

O m g .... Just done my tax return and renewed tax credits.... These rate number 1 on my super stressy jobs list... Took 2 doses of meds 3 hours apart instead of 4, 5 cans of red bull, a nicotine patch and a few puffs of a worn out e cigarette to get through I really really really want a proper pack of cigs now, all of them one after the other so I can just calm down..... But yay me - all done!!

I don't know what's come over me, lately. I've just spent two days spring-hoovering every room in the house. I've pulled out beds, got down under cupboards, behind the loo, the lot. I also washed all the towels, some of the bedding, and tidied every room (a bit). Genghis came home from school yesterday, looked at me very seriously and asked, 'Who are you and what have you done with my mum?' Not only that, but in the middle of all this, two invoices arrived from the council for overpayments and I sat down and paid them right then! My sink is clean. The top of the oven is clean (I don't do inside. Nobody sees it but me after all!). I keep walking round the house, just to look at how clean and lovely it is. (Though not looking at filthy windowsills and shelves or windows.) (Or out of windows (thankfully, not that easy anyway) as grass is 18" high.) I feel quite light headed now. I think I might go for a lie-down. Well done Jan for being early! Well done JJ for doing your tax return! Such a relief when it's out of the way! Don't start smoking!

Omg kathymel - do you think mph has accidentally got into the water supply in Wales??? . Jan - I would've bought some cigs if I'd have been able to get away with it... Alas, I have 24/7 smoking police (aka my kids) monitoring my every move... They'd smell a sneaky puff from a mile off and would guilt me into oblivion with lectures about lung cancer/teary eyes/wobbly chins and poignant stares to infinity... I did consider the old 'pack of extra strong mints' and 'entire can of Impulse spray' trick.... - but then remembered I wasn't 13 anymore - and it didn't fool my mum at the time - so no chance now with my own personal SS brigade ! I'm just biding my time til they all leave home...... Gonna check house for hidden CCTV, lock the doors, draw the curtains and blow my life savings on Marlboro lights...... Having worked out my money today, I'm cautiously optimistic I might even be able to stretch to a pack of 20 instead of 10!!!
