I enjoy taking photos but am very bad at sorting and publishing them. There are a number of reasons for this which I can unpack some other time. In some ways, I feel the best thing is just to do it rather than bellyaching about why I can't...... Anyway, here is were I put photos when I do (thanks meepmeep for encouraging me...) www.flickr.com/photos/andrewblack

Hey don't feel bad. I'm the same, I've had a DSLR since 2009. Have many times have I published a full set? 0. Since getting things on track, I've got one published set, another I'm working on tonight I now feel bad for not reciprocating with some samples of my own, but I'm holding back as I use my real name for Flickr and ADHD isn't something every other person needs to know about. Although I'll find something that is not linked to me, or published elsewhere A few tips for an ADHD'er and photography: - Do not become delete happy, viewing the pics on your 550D is not a solid representation or what it'll look like on a large calibrated screen. - Don't go on spending sprees, it'll end in tears. - If it looks like a great deal, it's probably not. Stay away from bargain lenses and accessories, they're normally trash. - Experiment with some FD glass. * You will lose infinity focus, but some old FD glass compares to the new mean pro line with ease in terms of IQ and costs peanuts in comparison. Edit: Liking this a lot, permission to edit requested. I will post here, I just think some play on lighting could really unlock more potential on this photo: www.flickr.com/photos/andrewblack/12037820934/in/photostream/Feel free to tell me to shut up and go away

That's lovely.
Editing out that bush masquerading as a finger could be a pain though.

That's lovely. Editing out that bush masquerading as a finger could be a pain though. Indeed. random, if you're unhappy with this edit just let me know and I'll remove it. Playing with images is always fun, this is by no means perfect, or what I'd consider a good attempt, but anyway, play with post processing and find your style in that too ;-) Original @ 1024 My not so good attempt: The Sky looks like something out of Sega Genesis on my edit as the highlights are blown out, so unfortunately, and more so with jpeg it's limited to how much detail can be recovered. But if you look at the bridge, tree, sky in the middle, detail has been extracted.

Sorry, one more edit: Original @ 1024 and my edit: To conclude, you're taking good pictures, your equipment is fine too, just keep at it.

Thanks, HDR is definitely a nice touch, but too often people over cook/make it look way too vibrant/rich.
My personal standing is always to try and edit a pic to how I saw it. Of course with randoms image im going with what I assume it looked like.
My camera has a HDR function but boo at jpg only and the need for a tripod.
But anyway this just goes to show how much detail and dynamic range these sensors pick up.
Lets hijack and turn this into a photography thread.
Got any HDR examples ADDJourneyMan? Ill find some stuft to post later tonight :-)

I don't have the camera option though, just take three images on a tripod and put them through Luminance -although Luminance has got a bit crap of late

Andgrabbed this while walking by, sadly my focal range killed the photo Shame the outer edge of the padlock is not tack sharp, lesson learnt some do stuff in haste. No blur filter used, shot at F1.4, stupidly relied on AF system rather than adjusting the focus manually as I do. Edited the sizes, loss of some IQ, but I doubt anyone prefers a 1920x1080 image shoved in their face! Attachments:

Me too. I have a standard compact camera and sometimes take photos of interesting things (mostly animals and countryside). They never really look that great though. Also it doesn't have a viewfinder and after I've found the subject on the screen it's often flown off.

"The best camera you have is the one in your pocket"
I started out with a Sony K800i mobile phone.
Im going on holiday soon and wont be taking my best equipment but instead an Ixus 40 or some shat.
Reason being I dont think equipment makes the photo. So if I can't get decent photos using a shitty compact time to give up.
Im harsh on myself, but if theres a limit and I hit it, its time to push beyond that limit. That alone is what's made me survive the last year and get closer to be being a balanced, functioning young man.

Thanks for replies everyone.
I am a bit of an old fogey but I don't like using my mobile camera (apart from quick pictures eg of posters for info). I find the screen hard to see in bright sunshine (that is true of any camera without viewfinder).
