Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone here has had any experiences with Clinical Partners psychiatric services? I'm thinking about having an appointment with them at their Birmingham facility.

Pretty average as far as I can see outside of London.
Initial assessment : £595
Follow ups : £195 a pop
If he's not a proper specialist its probably not worth me going.
Have you been there then? if not, if you don't mind me asking, where are you getting that kind of real time information from? It strikes me that only someone actually connected into the profession or a patient of his directly would have that info.

To be honest I'm looking at The Family Psychologist in Kidderminster here in Worcestershire at the moment. Since I looked at the Clinical Partners option I have ben to see a senior GP at my local practice, he spoke about The Family Psychologist and said he'd sent people there in the past and they had had some success. I looked into them and it takes 1 year+ at least on the NHS. However they say they try to get every private patient in for initial assessment within four weeks, and you get a diagnosis in 10 weeks or less, so 14 weeks max. Their assessment process is the gold standard. My only concern is how open minded they will be about trying different types of medication. The GP I spoke to is up for a shared care agreement so that's a start. Price is £1500 for adult diagnosis. I will be posting elsewhere on this site to see if anyone has experience of them, but will probably book as soon as possible as I cant wait a year or deal with half measures any more.

Just realised after I posted, the difference between psychologist and psychiatrist. If a psychologist can't prescribe medication I don't know how they would feel about recommending?

You will need to see a psychiatrist to get a formal diagnosis - I'm really surprised at your GP for not pointing this out. I've been admonished for my previous comments to you - (I run a psychiatry service so I have to avoid advertising which is fair....) All I can say is that you can see a private psychiatrist for a formal diagnosis and have all the titration etc that you would need to get the dosage right for about a third of that....
There's nothing wrong with Clinical Partners by the way - I wasn't trying to put you off going to them! However, if I was starting cold I'd look at some of the reviews and recommendations at iwantgreatcare.org and myhealthspecialist.com to decide what to do.

Minor hijack of thread:
I'm looking into Clinical Partners too, to get an ADHD assessment for my partner (I'm already diagnosed).
Does anyone have any experience with the Bournemouth branch? Can't really find much information about the psychiatrist there other than her profile on their website...
Thanks
