Got back on Concerta after a few years off. First month great, not perfect but what I expected.
Second prescription was written by GP and only specified MPH XL, was given Matoride XL, didn't think much of it. The first thing I notice is no racing heart 20 or so mins after taking it.
Since then things haven't been so good. Not blaming the change from Concerta yet but it does seem this stuff is really inconsistant. Felt like I had no symptom relief earlier and now suddenly tight jaw and irritable like I've taken too much.
Anyone else switched to this stuff and noticed a difference. I know Concerta's delivery system is patented and can't be copied, but can't find any info on how this stuff works apart from an NHS trust saying it's so similar they are interchangeable.

Hi Dan, I've just changed from Concerta to Matoride too - although no-one consulted me! I was doing fine on Concerta, and I've been on Matoride three days and I'm really struggling. I never know whether it's just life being difficult. How did you get on - did you go straight back to Concerta?

Hi Mary,
I only got that one months prescription of Matoride. Unfortunately if your prescription is written out for MPH XL you don't have a choice and it'a just a matter of what the pharmacy has in stock, unless yours was specifically written out as Matoride?
I'm only using it sporadically now so never really got to the bottom of whether it was actually Matoride that was different. However now I go to a pharmacy that always seems to dispense Concerta so problem solved.

www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/3305/smpcSeems it is pretty similar to Concerta even down to the non-digestible capsule with a dispensing hole. The wording is virtually identical on medicines.org for both drugs. I wonder how pure in reality the manufacturing process actually is? Also a racemic mixture of l- and d- isomers.... Does that mean precisely 50/50? There’s loads of other ingredients for both drugs (and they are quite different). The only one noted as having any possible effect is lactose. But perhaps there are other, as yet undescribed, interactions or intolerances? The actual mechanism of dispersal may be different - solubility, size of hole etc, which may alter the rate of release.

Anyone know how the price for Matoride compares to Concerta?
If your prescription reads simply mph xl there’s still quite a choice but with very different responses. Same active ingredient - different response curves. Surely that decision shouldn’t be down to what the pharmacist might have in stock?
I presume that you could ask the pharmacist to order whatever brand you choose. What’s it to them? And mostly delivery will be next day.
