Hello all After spending a few minutes trying to remember how to start a new thread...... duh!
I'm currently on 20mg Ritalin 3x daily. I do feel a bit of an improvement with turning thoughts into words - I'm intelligent and articulate but often find that I'll start saying one thing then want to say several other things at the same time. I've counted 5 different things I wanted to say and end up not getting anything out.
Potential tandem there - get back on track....
Some other ADDers I've spoken to think that's a high dose but it doesn't do much for me. My nurse doesn't want to go beyond 60mg daily (she knows more than me so I trust her!) I'm wondering if increasing the dosage would give me this legendary awesome clarity that so many people get but I've only ever had brief flashes of. I've had a few occasions where I could follow everyone in a staff meeting (i normally just switch off), suddenly able to do 'stuff' but it was always very brief.
Does anyone else take 60mg or more of Ritalin? How does it affect you? I'm not too keen on medication, but if it works and I can get on with my life then I'll use it!
Hope that wasn't too random and wordy!
Jamie

I'm kind of finding my own answer, Looking around the internet it seems that the popular opinion is that 60mg daily seems to be the highest recommended dosage. I'm still interested in hearing from anyone who's had 60mg and above, and how helpful it was (or not!)

I'm in a similar situation.
I take 120mg of Elvanse. It takes the edges off me for a few hours but it doesn't feel like anywhere near enough. Part of me begrudges taking even that.
I've not tried Ritalin but I found Concerta to be inert.
Easier to struggle on than attempt to get the tablets tweaked!

I'm still of the opinion that medication isn't a long term solution - I'm not broken or disordered or ill, I'm just tuned a bit differently. Put me in the right setting and I'm awesome. It me in the wrong setting and I'm stressed to bits. I suspect it's always going to be a case of finding the right environment with the right coping strategies!

Try different medications, for some people Ritalin is the one, for some it's Elvanse or Adderal
self-medicating with Ritalin currently, it gives me about 90min focus before the brain fog and concentration issues return. Usually top up 5mg every 1-1.5hrs until I hit 30mg/day
Hoping that Elvanse works better if I can get that prescribed.

I'm on 80mg I don't feel them kick in or wear off. IV bee on this strength for a week I take it in two 40mg. My family see a difference in me. I hardly eat which I'm happy with at the mo as I need to shift some fat. I'm not getting hang overs lol. I still drift off to the big TV in my head but not as much.
