Hello all, I was recently diagnosed and prescribed elvanse adult 30mg. I tried 3 chemists, none of whom had it in stop. When boots tried to order it in, they had a message on their system that the manufacturer was unable to supply. Has anyone else had an issue getting hold of elvanse adult?

Hiya, did you get sorted? I wondered as I got my 'adult' tabs from the chemist, but they gave me just Elvanse, so I wasnt sure if they are the right ones. Do they actually say Adult on the pack?

I had a torrid time getting hold of it. I tried about 9-10 chemists on Edgeware Road that wouldn't do it. I was quoted some astronomical prices varying £80-400. Eventually I got it from Boots on Oxford Street. Which took a week for them to deliver it. It seems like it's a very new drug to them, a lot of Pharmacists haven't heard of it. It's really hard to get hold of. Best of luck!

I'm struggling to get Elvanse Adult each month in Hastings. I left the prescription with the chemist and a week later they still can't get it in. I've tried different chemists but it's looking like I'll be having a med break :-(

Hi, my consultant recommends Tesco and Asda pharmacies as the cheapest around. He also recommends haggling - telling one that the other is selling it cheaper and asking them to match the price (!) Schlepping round supermarkets looking for a deal on Elvanse is not what I expected from private medicine, I can tell you :-D
I settled on the nearest Asda superstore, phoned in advance and they ordered it in just for me. So far no problems with that. I pay about £80/mt full whack with a private Rx.
If people are really struggling to get hold of it, I'd recommend asking your pharmacists if the same problem exists with the paediatric version. If the junior version is available, ask your consultant to prescribe that instead, perhaps in larger quantities as I know it doesn't go up to 60mg capsules. The adult version* is not commonly prescribed hence the scarcity of supply in the UK.
(*When I say 'adult version', it differs not a jot from the paediatric version, just comes in a different range of dosages.)
Good luck, everyone. Fingers crossed. Last shreds of executive function at the ready.

Another strategy might be to sweet talk your pharmacist into laying in a really big stock when available on the basis that they will definitely be able to shift it onto you and your regular scripts.

Hi
Bit late to this party but just to say, I have had similar problems.
I recently switched from 108mg Concerta XL to 70mg Elvanse Adult. There has been a “manufacturing issue” with Elvanse Adult for at least a year - Shire Pharmaceuticals was taken over by Takeda in January, I’m not sure if it’s related to that but it seems like they have moved production to somewhere else in the UK.
Luckily, my local pharmacist was able to get clearance to prescribe me regular Elvanse. It is exactly the same and comes in exactly the same dosages and the release mechanism is exactly the same. Literally, the only difference is the packaging, leaflet and product license number.
I have asked a number a pharmacists in London where I live half the week whether they would be prepared to prescribe normal Elvanse and they all said no and that it was illegal to do so - there seems to be a lack of understanding or common sense on the issue in general.

I am not sure if this is helpful, but have you asked the pharmacists whether they know anywhere nearby that is licensed to offer Elvanse? I imagine the various medications that are - or can be made - available at any pharmacy is stored in a database for legal reasons and, if they themselves don't know, they probably have a contact number for the organisation that does. If that isn't helpful, I would contact the NHS helpline and/or the association who regulate all the GPs in your area. Hope this helps.

Hey, I'm new here and very late to the topic of conversation. The only difference between Elvanse and Elvanse adult is Elvanse is licensed for children from the age of 6 to 17 years old (although adults can use it too) and Elvanse adult isn't licensed for children. If your a child and prescribed Elvanse you would be put on that and continue into adulthood if needed. If your an adult and diagnosed and prescribed Elvanse you would be put in Elvanse adult. Both contain the same ingredients and both come in the same dosages upto 70mg. In my county there can be problems with certain pharmacies stocking all controlled drugs including Elvanse and Elvanse adult. However Boots have never proved to be a problem obtaining any for me. Hope this has been sorted for you now.
