Hi,
Background - long term mild/moderate anxiety and depression sufferer
crisis with work every 3/2 years then got in major trouble 2016, 2017 - mostly due to sickness absence and lateness (with and without being sick)
Only recently I became more aware of ADHD.
This week, after waiting for 10 months, I finally got to see a psychiatrist - the main purpose was to review my medication for anxiety and depression (the medication was helping but not enough to prevent my relapse this year 2018).
During this appointment (half way) I mentioned I think I have ADHD - the Dr said she was just about to ask me about that.
she asked my how I coped with stress and asked if I view stress/anxiety are the same
She asked me a couple of questions about childhood and why do I think I have ADHD.
I have all the classic symptoms of procrastination, always late, having a million unfinished projects, a hoarder's room, problem with work etc.
She did a screening Ax with me but didn't score on the spot; she said the scores doesn't matter much as ADHD is a spectrum, but she agreed that I have lots of symptoms of ADHD.
She agreed to refer me for an adult ADHD assessment, but that is subject to agreement to funding, and the waiting list is talking about 12months long. AND I will not be given any ADHD medication until I have a diagnosis. (she is exploring a change of anxiety/depression medication with me)
MY MAIN QUESTION IS:
- with the confidence that I am pretty sure I have ADHD (for many years, symptoms existed in childhood but the impairments are more obvious in adulthood)
IS THERE ANYTHING - supplements/medication from pharmacy/productions - I could try while I am waiting for an assessment?
obviously I will continue to use my diary/planner to help with organisation, and I am now more motivated to exercise -
is there anything 'supplement' wise that I can buy and take/use?
Thanks
