Hi there, I recently came across a threatment book based on CBT for therapists with a accompaning client work book to help those of us with ADHD who have problems with executive functioning.
The book is like a session by session weekly course with homework. With practical steps which seem to build upon each other. The subjects covered are Organisation and planning, reducing Distractibility methods, Adaptive thinking and procrastination.
.
The treatment I currently recive is 15 minutes with a doctor every 3 to 6 months to get meds and the self help books are not working for me, with support maybe I could do better. I am looking for a affordable option for help , a one in one therapist would cost a lot, what I get now it's just not enough
So I would like people's opinions on the following.
Do you think this kind of skills based course could be done in a group setting? And what are your thoughts on this..
How would you feel about attending/paying for something like this(if interested)
Does anyone have any experiences of attending anything along these lines or know of anything similar in the UK?
I would like to hear people's feed back on this, so please reply.
Signed One frustrated person.

Hi suss Thank you for sharing about this book - personally interesting on a couple of levels. I'm a professional development trainer and recently diagnosed with ADHD - the irony is not lost on me. I now realise my struggles to understand my undiagnosed ADHD was the reason I got into this line of work in the first place. I'm always looking for good examples of how learning is organised and measured. I'm going to get the client workbook and take a look through it. The sample looks promising. Perhaps we could start a thread to talk about our experiences as we progress through it? Actually there might be one already - not searched yet Thanks gain for sharing.

First thing is I liked the look fo the book. It's a larger format and quite slim so feels approachable. I dipped in an out of chapters and saw lots of words in CAPITALS and exclamation marks, along with warnings to "only do things this way" so I got a bit anxious about it. It certainly looks clear and confident that it holds the answer. I'm going to read first chapter this evening.

Well I’m glad I made a start on this. I’m not the target audience because I haven’t been using medication fir my adhd yet. There are a couple of chapters to read before it gets to activities and I found I needed my energising playlist on in the background to stay awake and alert. But the layout is good and the small sections help.
Conclusion - Based on first few chapters I can see how this workbook would be a great framework for tackling important skills. I’d like to be able to work with someone and follow the programme but I imagine it’s unlikely unless I went privately. The language is a bit academic in places then suddenly switches to a friendly style which I found a bit distracting. But I can see where it’s going and feel I can trust it.
Anyone followed this programme?

Is there a link to the file? I'd like to browse if available.
