Hello,
I am going to the Doctors next week to possibly begin medication again. I have young children and I wondered how other parents with ADHD have found taking medication in terms of interacting with their children. When I previously took medication, I had 0 children and was (from my partners point of view, miserable). I dont want to start medication again if it will interfere with playing with my children and being a 'fun dad' but I also need the medication to enable me to have a better work life.
I wouldn't mind some peoples views on this from their own experience.

tldr; You'll be fine.
When I'm having a tablet break, I never actually tell anyone. By day 3 or 4, I usually detect 'non-compliance' from my wife/daughter.
It's very subtle but it's like they're retracting into the foetal position, socially, where I'm concerned.
From my perspective, I'm being 'fun' and they're being kinda moody. I suspect this is not the reality from their perspective!

I don't have the same experience on meds as you describe. For me, I do much better, socially, when I am taking my meds. I have less self-consciousness and can, therefore, be more conversant and expressive.
On meds, I have a bit more mental cushion, which is that I have a bit more time to better control what I say and how I act when I get frustrated with my son.
You could talk to your doc about taking the meds so they will exit your system around the time you are getting back home after work.
