hi all
Im new here. At the age of 42 I was diagnosed privately by psychiatry-uk. I had to borrow a considerable amount of money to get this done as I was told on the NHS I would have to wait up to 2 years to get a diagnosis.
So I got diagnosed with psychiatry-uk and started medication, (bear in mind my son has ADHD and when I looked into it more I instantly knew I had it) Medication went from 30mg to 50mg to 70mg and I can honestly say this has changed my life in so many ways.
I've got my life back, I can feel and see the sunshine again, I've started back to work and am so happy.
But this is were the system is so screwed up!!!!!!!!
So I was told that psychiatry-uk could do shared care with my gp once I had finished my titration and had another £180 consultation with the psychiatrist. All my paperwork was sent to my gp and they have refused to take me on, I cant tell you how heartbroken I am right now, to be having to fight so hard to have my life back to dome kind of normal. My gp says its because he can't just talk to my psychiatrist when he needs to and it will cost the practice money! My gp has told me that i now have to go back through the system, starting with the mental heath team who have to tick some boxes to then be referred to a psychiatrist, all of this i have paid for so the NHS don't have to do it, I've saved them money by taking it on myself and now I'm running out of money and don't know what to do.my medication currently cost me £125 a month, After 7 weeks on medication I'm looking like I have to come off of it and wait another possible 2 years to get the same diagnosis.
Im heartbroken as ive just started a new job and I really need to focus.
Please if anyone has any advice I would be so so grateful 🙏 right now.
