Hello all. I am 41 years old and have been getting treatment for anxiety and occasionally depression since school age. During my last course of counseling I was asked to try and grab my racing thoughts and take note of them. When I did I discovered they aren't what I expected. I expected negative depressive thoughts consistent with what I was being treated for. But I discovered I am constantly replaying or planning interactions. Planning conversations, every word, every possible answer over and over. My brain is like a noisy nightclub where the thoughts I need can't be heard. I realised I have always done this, even more so or more noticeable if I have an appointment or similar coming up. I sat on it for a few days thinking it was a bit strange. Then I discussed it with my wife and straight away she said that sounds like ADHD. So I looked into it and upon reading through the symptoms realised they described me. I have spoke to my GP and have been referred, I have no idea what's next or how long I have to wait. Anyway I'm undiagnosed at present, it's a strange thing to want to be diagnosed with something, it would just explain so much.
Any idea how long I'll be waiting for anything to come of my referral?

Your area might be different. The alternative is to go private which I did at first. It cost me £200.

I live in Cheshire. I may look into going private if it's going to take that long. I have no idea who to call to chase it up. I may give my doctor a call next week and see if I can get more info.
