Hi,
I am adult and I am after an ADHD screening. I don't have much faith in the NHS, even less in the mentalh health provision so I would be going private. I just wanted to know from other forum members how much they paid for their initial diagnosis and how much the pay monthly for their private prescription and medication. I have read that private clinics want to carry out regular assessments, I do wonder if some of these are just to make more money out of a patient.
Regards

I suspect many clinics will do this for a variety of reasons. From my experience, it would be helpful to have regular checks, especially on medication. I was told by my private consult that I couldn’t afford the treatment which is why he wrote to my GP requesting referral via NHS. Given what I experienced with titration and having to change meds, I can see how and why things could get expensive privately. But now I’m on something that I don’t get assistance with. I generally speak to my pharmacist for advice but I’m still having to work through the best way to take them with other things I take due to the opposing effects and timings of these because I still need it to fit in my life - they are not a magic cure. They just take the edge off some of the issues you may suffer. In the first year, I expect it will be very costly but after that, it should settle once you are okay on whatever meds you settle on.
