Hello
I have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, so I think it very unlikely that I will be prescribed stimulant medication like Ritalin.
However, I have a book that mentions two ADHD medications that are "non-stimulant" and can be given to people with a history of psychosis. These two medications are Strattera and Intuniv.
Of Strattera, the book says:
The book also says this about Strattera:
Does anyone have any experience of these medications? Do they work?
I really hope someone can help!
Thank you very much.

I know people who have positive experiences of both. However, Strattera (atomoxitine) has a lot of unpleasant side-effects
in a lot of people (including me) which means many don't make it through titration.
I've been trialling Intuniv (guanfacine) as I've tried everything else and it makes me feel a bit calmer on 2mg, but 3mg
gave me abdominal pain, increased sleep disturbance and physical fatigue, so I'm back to 2mg. I can't say it's doing much
for my concentration or motivation though . . .I'm just desperate for something to help!

Strattera didn't help me took it for two years got to 80mg. honestly if you start to not feel good ie bit paranoid from anxiety it causes being noradrenaline.. I would stop soon as possible as it can make you unwell every1s different but it caused me to be ill in the end of taking it had to take risperidone plus side effects makes you sick unless you take it with ie cooked breakfast plus car lights cud be blinding hurt the back of my eyes it did then I'd wake up with a migraine the sky would even seem to bright . Have a look Google adhd psychosis the first study that comes up is interesting.... if your stable don't see why the Dr wudnt try a small dose of methylphenidate..
