I've been recently diagnosed at 52 with adult ADHD, being more on the ADD side, and it's something I've had all my life.
After diagnosis my consultant provided a couple of medication options and asked that I go away, read up on them for discussion later. I chose Vyvanse, for all the well-documented reasons, and he agreed. I'm now on 30mg/day dose and have been for a few weeks.
This dose/drug combo does very little for my symptoms (lack of focus, easily distracted etc). The only thing I noticed was a slightly elevated mood, and surprisingly, this very much reminded me of the feeling of (the very casual and occasional) use of Class A recreational drugs in the 90/00's. It brought back some old memories but didnt help with my ADHD at all, in fact it made things slightly worse as I was very slightly spaced-out for a few hours, the opposite of the increased focus promised by this drug.
[Just to stress, my use of drugs at that time was purely recreational and very occasional, and something which I left behind long ago (20yrs +) along with my full head of hair.]
I'm also due to go onto 40mg/day next week. But as the prescription hasn't yet arrived and I've got a few 30mg tablets left I decided to split one 30mg into 1/3rds and take one 1/3rd with a standard 30mg, giving the 40mg dose.
My experience has been as before in that it's not helped with ADHD and focus at all, but it's created an even more elevated 'Class A' drug euphoric feeling, along with an even stronger spaced-out vibe.
My question is whether anyone else has had this, or a similar, experience with Vyvanse and whether these euphoric feelings subside over tme and Vyvanse then starts to help with ADHD symptoms and this spaced-out feeling disappears.
