Not subtitled (tangent alert ) On the news they had the report of Christopher Reeve falling off his horse and breaking his neck. The newscaster said 'but he is in a stable condition' Nearly fell out of my chair

Excellent thread. In my local news paper last week one of the headlines read "vicar Marries Daughter". Underneather was a happy photo of the vicar, his daughter and her fiancé. I love local news.

I remember my Dad being v v annoyed at his local paper - Big splashy headline ' Man Shot' - then first line described a stabbing! No mention of gun or shooting!
But back to subtitles - I find the proper subtitles on films v helpful but OH just finds it annoying so he'll turn them off, I'll turn them back on, he'll switch them off again hoping I haven't noticed.
That 'live' subtitling I cannot watch.

Our local rag is famous for silly headlines :
"Vagrant sought" (no it wasnt in the Jobs pages LOL)
"Gulls nest on cliff" (Oh really what a surprise!!!)
Just 2 examples, there are too many to mention ;D

I love the medical condition report of 'critical condition'
I always imagine them lying there and saying
'I don't like these curtains' *tut*
