Hello All, This is a v quick post. I need to catch up with the forum but have my end of year assessment at uni in a few mins so must keep procrastination to a minimum. Don't have time right now to copy this excerpt from my psych's letter out again so am linking to my blog (admin - please remove link if this is breaking rules). I think this is funny but perhaps I need to have a serious think about my appearance: inattentiveme.wordpress.com/Forum luv to you all, Audrey

Hahah Audrey im sorry but that really made me laugh! Im just putting myself in your position and I think I would find that extremely amusing to read!
I wouldnt have thought a psych notices things like slightly unkempt hair or holes in clothing? Perhaps your appearance seemed to him to be a mirror of your chaotic life you were describing to him which is why he thought it was a valid piece to add?!
Hahah deary me, god knows what they'll write about me.
Audrey, may I ask where you went for a diagnosis?

Hi, Yes, I was wetting myself laughing but think I will buy a new t shirt tomorrow - I hadn't even noticed the holes in it but I like to wear comfortable things and I tend to wear them to death. Clearly. I do wear black a lot but for convenience. I also have some clothing that is blue I'll PM you where I got my dx if that's ok - just because I feel a bit bad for quoting the psych (who I actually like a lot)'s report.

They always note physical appearance since it may indicate what lies beneath eg wearers of black may have a death fixation, scruffy/smelly can be extreme low self esteem/final stages of 'I don't give a damn'. I had the all black comment too - it's very slimming and pretty much de rigour for alternative lifestyle types of 'a certain age' like me. Next time I went in a snow white shirt and blue jeans just to make the point....and fell out with her completely

They made remarks at the meeting about the lenght of my finger nails. I hadnt bothered to cut them for a bit. Fortunately this didnt make it to the report.

Audrey I laughed till I cried ;D I think I've already mentioned the time that I suddenly remembered I was supposed to go to an appointment, so I dropped everything and ran like hell to the bus, ran from the bus stop to the office and dropped into a chair, panting heavily, but happy because I was exactly on time. And it was only then that I noticed I was still in my dog walking clothes (i.e. old and tatty) and covered in mud including a great smudge of mud on the left side of my jacket where I had picked up my dog and carried her over a stile, oh and I had a grass stain on the left knee. All I needed was binder twine for a belt

Audrey having ready your psychiatrist's description I feel lucky to have just got away with being described as fat (cannot remember exact terminology) but that was the meaning. There was some other stuff but can't remember what that was.. so it couldn't have cut to the bone like the reference to my weight.
That is a really great blog and great pics.

Bloody hell mouse you got described as fat?! Thats absoloutley awful and if that happens to me I will be very upset and annoyed!
Physical appearance obviously has some meaning to a psych but surely thats pushing it a bit mentioning someones weight when they know that person is going to be reading their report?
According to a nurse I spoke to at my doctors surgery im not classed as overweight BUT I know I definately look it (to me) and feel fat so im really hoping im not gonna get my weight commented on!
God Im a right scruff too haha.

hey audrey,
that's so funny, i've not read your blog before either, it's good though, do you find it hard to maintain?... i considered starting one about the work i do, but i was worried i might just do about 12 entries then forget to update it ever again!
i've just gone to get my psychiatrists report from the other room, so i can see what he wrote about me...
"He was a neatly dressed man. He came across as very thoughtful and considered all the answers he gave me very carefully."
-HOORAY!!! ...yet another glowing review for the MarvelousMatt! ;D

Hey all,
Have just about recovered from the bruising my ego took from the psych and from the stress of the viva.
Glad you found the report funny too. Think my mum is more offended than I am - she has a particular problem with the word unkempt.
Matt - Viva went well thank you - am surprised and relieved. I always feel I have 'got away with it' rather than rewarded for my hard work. Re the blog, I don't have trouble remembering to update it but I do find it hard to justify the time it takes to update it regularly. I have about 5 half-written posts.
